Lovely rain..................

Yesterday we had many hours of a light gentle rain that ended up at 1" in my rain gauge.  It was a perfect day to go through my quilt tops and make a few decisions.

I made this quilt top in 2016 and have been stuck ever since trying to decide if it needs a border.  The fabric next to it is the backing fabric.  It is 59" x 72.5" right now.

This backing fabric is one of the Liberty reproductions that Kaffe chose colors for.  I didn't make any decision on it so back to a hanger it goes.

This is the group that I'm thinking I will quilt next.  The yellow crazy pieced one will be done on my straight stitch machine.  I'm not real sure about the top left whether it will be longarm or straight stitch machine.  I made it in 2018 and it is called Sunlight in the Forest, inspired by one in a Kaffe book.  The rest will be quilted on the longarm.

This will be the next to be quilted.  I sewed the backing seam and got it loaded yesterday afternoon.

Next I cut the batting for some of the rest of them so I can get the roll of batting off my work table.

While down there cutting batting I found these 2 already had batting cut for them so I guess they are in the lineup too.  Now I need to get backings sewn for all of them.

That's quite a quilt line up. What a nice variety. It looks like you have your work cut out for you.

I like the hexies without a border. But I'm not usually one that adds borders so what does that tell you.

Glad you got some rain if you are. It's been rain and heat here for several days now so I can hear the weeds growing taller out in the gardens. And I think I might have a lot of harvesting to do also if the critters haven't made off with most of it by now.

Happy that you got some refreshing rain--so far we are still "dancing" here--but no rainfall!!;000

What a lovely array of quilts to be finished you have. I agree with Cathy about the hexagons without borders. Have fun finishing them up

This post has a lot of inspiration! I am so glad you got measurable rain.

I think a small border in the same fabric for the backing would look good. It would contain the hexies. Looks like you have plenty to quilt and that you could quilt as much as you wanted with all those fabulous tops. No rain here all weekend. There are very light sprinkles, but we need more than that.

so many beauties!! yes if you have the battings cut I would get them done. Do you normally piece your backings and don't think of getting wide backs? Perhaps you have so much fabric for backings already that you piece to use it up?

I vote to pull that first quilt top back out of the waiting area and quilt it without borders. It is stunning and large enough to be used without issues. Good luck with your challenge to quilt the others in your collage! So much marvelous color!

What an awesome collection in your line up tp quilt. Each one so full of your “exuberant” colorful fabrics and creative designs.

Our over night temps are in the low 40’s already, gearing down for autumn. Rain ? What does that look like ? Living in the ‘high desert’ we seldom get any moisture all summer.

Your quilts are all so colorful! Good luck with the quilting program. I know you'll make the right choice for the hexie.

My two cents says no border on that first quilt. You simply amaze me every day. Your approach to color and style are very different from mine but they're all beautiful. You inspire me to branch out into new things.

We got about 1/3" on Sunday during the day but early this morning a storm rolled through with more rain. The quilt tops sparkle in the collage photo! No border for your oldie would be fine but I can also imagine a left and a bottom border of the same width with a right and a top border of a narrower width (asymmetrical). Still loving the cut glass dish in batiks. (Could call that carnival glass, except that the actual carnival glass was molded, not cut (inexpensive movie-house premium giveaway).)

The first quilt top you've shown us is stunning!! So beautiful and I don't think it needs a border at all, it's delicious enough! Gosh your group ready for quilting is so exciting, my fingers are itching to delve into my fabrics and get sewing. Thanks for the inspiration Wanda.
