I've been saving my selvages for years.. all rolled into balls to put on my coffee table. Looking at your link made me sick to see what I could have done with them. Thank-you...I think.
Have a large plastic box full of selvages ready to use... actually higher on my list than many other things. Karen's book is also full of good ideas for selvages. Like batiks, the edges play well together!
I hadn't seen that site yet, but saw a quilt made by Calender Pages (http://calenderpages.blogspot.com/2008/10/selvage-quilt-once-more.html) and the start of a sweatshirt jacket made the same way (http://calenderpages.blogspot.com/2008/10/selvage-jacket.html). So a couple of months ago I started saving mine for an idea I have for our guild's National Quilt Day challenge in March. I think they are so cool!
I started saving selvages a few months ago, and then found that book on using selvages. I need alot more to make any of the projects though. I especially love the color dots--useful for planning new color schemes.
I'm just a "newbie"...I didn't even know that "selvage" was a word and thought that those ends of the fabric were advertising. As always...a teacher isn't what you do but who you are. I think of that everyt time I visit your blog!
I keep being tempted - especially after seeing the Selvedge Dress, but I actually prefer to keep the selvedge on my fabrics for future reference. And because I'm not bothered enough to cut so carefully, the selvedges gradually get cut away as I cut strips.
Just the past few months I have been seeing people use selvages everywhere! I have started putting mine in a box, just hope it's not one more thing to keep. If nothing else, I hear they are great for tying tomatoes!
I had recently seen a picture of the dress which is amazing, but not of the other pieces. Creative use of something we generally toss away; I can see why you're saving yours. I can't wait to see how you use yours Wanda!

Just when I thought I had seen it all.... I was in awe at Jodie Carleton's dress ! Can you imagine the amount of thread that dress took?
I am satisfied just to look at the creations to feel like I could do that. But~ I will tackle another project instead. Great blog that is for sure.
