About 2 years ago I pulled some Martha Negley fabrics for a quilt and I even pressed the fabrics to prepare for cutting. I went as far as pulling one of the 3 dies to do the cutting and all of that was laying on a table for 2 years...yes, 2 years waiting for me to start it. I kept having second thoughts about my original idea. Yesterday I just went with the first idea and in one hour had all of the pieces cut for 20 blocks.
On the right is a few of the centers of the blocks that I sewed last night. The photo above is the last round of triangles, which are laid out here for the visual on the left.
There are 5 center fabrics and 5 corner fabrics, with only 4 of them being alike. I will need to make a decision which corners will go with which center blocks. Meanwhile I will finish sewing the center sections and press them. These blocks are 16" so these are all 8" components, 8" squares, 8" quarter square triangles, and 8" half square triangles.
It was too windy yesterday to take many photos but I did get one of the little Columbine plant in the corner of the sidewalk and driveway.

Lovely MN fabrics in these blocks;))) Strange how we begin things, get them all set up, and then abandon them for whatever reason. I think, sometimes, things just have to "simmer"..these will be very pretty all set together...;)))
59 here and a sunny start to our day...the pollen has been really awful this year; maybe all the rainy days so far...
i hope you have a wonderful Sunday hugs, Julierose
I'm certainly happy you are moving forward with this one. The fabrics are beautiful. I'm launching into a project using a similar block.
such pretty fabrics...simple pattern allows them to shine!
Those fabrics are just beautiful! Your Columbine is pretty. I thought of you when I found a returning hosta in our north garden that I thought had died. I need to move it, because in spite of being under a crape myrtle, it still gets too much sun and dies back in the summer.
I like it simple and elegant.
your lucky you had a table available for two years for that to lay out on!! It was a bit windy here too and then this morning I woke up to a super loud thunderstorm going through at 6 and couldn't fall back to sleep - I imagine I will be tired later today. No damage here but power out near by - glad that part missed us but nice and cool now and I have the windows open for the first time in days and it feels so good.
This one shouts Pink Passion with a design that truly shows off the awesome fabrics. A Sunday treat for your flowers today. And then to close with the beautiful blossoming Columbine
Followers not flowers….
Oh I love the color combination and the square in a square!
Beautiful colors in the MN fabrics - so springlike and pretty. Love that square in a square block, too.
What a lovely grouping of floral fabrics. And the purple of that columbine is delightful. I don't think I have any dark columbine left. It was cold angloomy all day today and tomorrow night it's predicted to go down to 38 degrees. I'm going to have to move some plants inside. Yuck.
