Moving blocks............................

I moved part of the blocks to the left but I can see I need to move them a few more inches.  Everything on the left side is sewn into 8" blocks.  I need to fit 3 more 8" blocks to the right of the top rows.  I finished cutting the squares that I need to finish the layout so I just need time now to design and sew the blocks.  I'm happy that this one is working as a scrappy quilt.

I have the first blossom on a tomato plant with more forming.

I was down at the far south corner of my lot and see there is an invasive non-fragrant Honeysuckle growing there.  I was in that section pulling out Velcro weed.

I found another Jack-in-the-Pulpit with giant leaves and a tiny bloom.

I thought there wouldn't be any Peonies by Memorial Day but the first ones have bloomed.  This plant only had a couple buds.

This is always the earliest Peony to bloom and only beat the pink one by one day.

It warmed up to 67 degrees yesterday with sunshine most of the day.  No rain predicted all weekend and we are at a 2+" deficit for May.

We used to have that invasive Honeysuckle on our acreage, but it pretty much kept to the forested areas, so we ignored it. I wonder how it's doing now! I had to Google Velcro weed, then I recognized it - lol - that is the perfect name for it. Your peonies are quite beautiful! Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend.

When I lived in Kansas, I had a peony bush full of buds and was so looking forward to them blooming. However my son pulled all the buds off, thinking they were honeysuckle!

You accomplished a lot of sewing on your quilt…. And then a walk through your gardens… your peonies look are so pretty and on time for Memorial Day weekend.

we have so much honeysuckle here it grows up the trees and over bushes and at times it is so thick you wouldn't believe it. Mike usually gets his gloves on and starts pulling it out of the trees and away from the bushes to clear it all out and then sprays it close to the ground to get rid of it. I like a little bit but not a lot.
The quilt is looking really good - it is always hard to get the design wall just right - I will stand back and see a crooked mess at times and have to keep repositioning.

It's been cold and rainy here all week. My peonies haven't started blooming yet. I'm down to just 2 plants and one of them isn't doing well. I've not heard of bedstraw being called Velcro weed, but it's surely an appropriate name. I have it everywhere. The new quilt design is coming along. You have a real talent for choosing color and design.

Peonies are so pretty. You have lovely colors in the flowerbeds, and in the floral signature quilt blocks.
