The top is sewn together but I haven't decided whether I'll add a narrow border of the same fabric as the quarter square triangles. I staystitched the edge so it's ready for border or not. It is 64" x 80". It is made of Martha Negley fabrics. She is mentioned in at least one of Kaffe's early books. Most of these fabrics are from her earlier lines.
Later in the day I did some more cutting with my new 8" die.
Here are the rest. There are 2 of some of them. Then it was time to explore some ideas for them.
I decided to check out some of the layouts in this Mary Ellen Hopkins book.
This is the drawiing I liked the best. It would make a 64" wide quilt. I would add on top and/or bottom rows to make it rectangular.
Here are some ideas of coloration for the pieces. The 4 patches are colored in 2 different ways in this quilt. I can see it is going to take a lot of thinking and searching for fabrics so this will become a long term project.
I put some pieces up on the design wall to see what the spacing looks like. I need to make fabric decisions for the triangles to finish these blocks as well as the fabrics for the 4 patches.

And just like that, you have a new project ;) I didn’t think we’d see sorting trays for long as you are amazingly creative.
Wow that made a really beautiful quilt. I like that new die!
The quilt top turned out so beautiful! Has a watercolor look to it.
I used to have that book and do not know what ever happened to it - I could have sworn I brought it to a quilt club meeting once to show someone and never brought it back home - I don't know if I loaned it or it "disappeared" I like how she would write these books - the pink quilt is larger than I thought it was
Beautiful quilt top -- I suspect you will add a narrow border as a unifier and protection for the edge seams (even though you stay stitched the edges). Yes, a lot of thinking for the new project's layout - but so many possibilities!
Oh how I love your Pink & Green quilt top ~ just looking at it brings a happy glowing feeling. I too vote for a small border. It will add ~ “Like the frosting on a cake”. But easy for me to say as I’m not the one creating it.
Your new die cut pieces are full of vim and viger ~ and I know will tackle it with the same energy. Layout looks so complicated to me but for you ~ and you
can hardly wait to get started on it.
The pink floral top (gee, that sounds like a blouse) -- great fabric, but so unusual for you (=not-especially-scrappy). Thanks for the remnder about the MEH layouts.
That economy block quilt is really pretty.
Playing catch up again at my place due to major tree cutting and so on, so such a pleasure to see your beautiful Martha Negley quilt, I love this fabric. I'm looking froward to seeing your setting decision for the new die cuts, the rich KF Collective fabrics you have ready cut are beauties.
You put together a whole quilt top just while I was on vacation! I didn't stitch one thing while I was away. Not even a crochet stitch.
