I planted my porch pots yesterday. I should have pulled the weeds growing in the crack between the steps and the sidewalk before I took this photo. The Geraniums in the front 2 pots were saved in the garage all winter and aren't currently blooming. The freshly planted pots always look a little skimpy until they start to fill in. I also planted 3 garage pots and my tomatoes. I'll take more photos this week.
There is a Coral Bell growing in the space between 2 pavers. I'm going to try to save it
My 3 compact Burning Bushes have tiny blooms on them.
There is a squirrel (raider) on each of the bird feeders. I guess they are having a contest to see who can empty the feeder first. The good news is they gave up after a while and I actually had birds visiting the feeders.
I tried for a better photo of the Yellow Salsify and the center flower is still out of focus. My phone screen just looks black when outside on a sunny day so I can't judge whether a photo will be in focus. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, the bloom at the top right is the most in focus. The centers of the flowers are interesting.
I got stung again while out working in the backyard on Saturday. The sting about a month ago was on my left hand. This time it is on the underside of my left arm about 2" below my elbow. I started with the antihistamine and cortisone cream right away. With the first sting my hand was swollen for almost a week so I have an idea what I'm in for with this sting. I looked up photos on the internet of what a wasp sting looks like after 24 hours and mine matches the photos. The itching is the worst part and the cortisone cream is supposed to calm it. I give it a 5 out of 10 for relief.

Twin thievery, grrrr! We are planting our pots today and I got a clematis to plant . They are usually pretty hardy, at least where we lived in Illinois but I’ve not had good luck in our most shady yard here in PA. We took out an old bush and that location gets more sun so I’m going to try again. Hope springs eternal ;-)
When I am outside, I turn the brightness on the screen all the way up so I can see for taking photos.
I have found that putting ice on the sting helps.
Ouch--sorry you got stung again, Wanda!! Hope it'll settle down quickly for you...
Still only high 30's to low 40's here early mornings so too early to set out tomatoes or basil tender plants...
Wonderful visit yesterday from my grand-twins, Cassidy, and my daughter...
Hugs, Julierose
Hate to hear that you got stung! Hope it doesn't last long. Your gardens look so beautiful and inviting.
I found my first little tomato over the weekend, picked radishes, and saw that my green bean seeds have sprouted. Hope the heat this week doesn't send things into a tailspin.
Put Vaseline on the bird feeder poles. Squirrels will slide down.
I got my plants in the ground just before the rains came yesterday so success! Sorry about the wasp sting. I got a bee sting this week and hardly any reaction but when I got stung by a wasp, my whole wrist was swollen.
After a couple stings with a reaction, you may want to ask your doctor for an epi-pen. There are generic brands. But, it is nice to have that option available in case the third sting happens and you have a severe reaction. Liz
I hate those stings -make sure part of the stinger didn't break off - if it doesn't go away soon you might need to have that checked, it happened once to me and became infected. Your plants look great and will fill out really good in another month I bet. I hope you can get the Coral Bell out I bet if you wet it good you will be able to gentle tug it out.
I've also heard of using meat tenderizer or ammonia for taking the itch out of stings. The After-Bite sticks are simply ammonia and and oil to prevent drying. Mosquito/fly/gnat bites are bad enough, but at least you can put on repellent to prevent those. When wasps get peeved - not much you can do except maybe spray them with cold water.
Sigh...I guess I'd best finish the coffee and get out and try to finish installing another raised garden bed. No rain here since the 1st, so is already too dry to try and pull weeds.
Forgot to add what worked for us and keeping squirrels out of the feeders...put in a tall steel fence post and leave it about 5 feet tall.
Slide a 4-ish foot section of metal downspout (drill or poke a couple of holes in it first) over the post. Insert the shepherds hook and wire it to the post. Then raise the downspout and wire it to the post or hook. The downspout is too big for squirrels to get a grip to climb, and they can't jump past it. And it's small enough they can't squeeze between post and downspout. Though it's not much help if there are trees or shrubs nearby that they can jump from.
That yellow flower looks exactly like a volunteer plant we have near our bird feeders. The flowers are SO pretty. Squirrels - so fun to watch but such pests (bird feeders and gnawing on houses to gain attic access). Wasp stings are NOT fun - sending good wishes that the itching/swelling dissipates sooner instead of later.
Ouch! Sorry about the wasp sting. Your porch flowers will make a good show.
Sorry to read about getting stung. I noticed a lot of yellow jackets in my back yard. I saw a commercial on TV for a wasp and yellow jacket trap made by Spectracide. I may have to get a couple since I have a lot of wasps around here.
