Playing with squares...............

I'm still going through the 10" squares, trying to decide which ones I want to cut with my new die.

My grandson and his fiancé took me out for lunch yesterday for a belated Mother's Day celebration.

In the afternoon I went outside for a photo shoot.  Most of my tomato plants are in pots this year.  Those large pots hold 30 lb. of dirt.

This is probably the last year for the raised bed.  My son pounded 2 stakes in to hold the front board up.  This is the bed I'm hoping to see volunteer Sun Gold plants in.  I planted one Early Girl plant in the front corner.

The pots in front of the garage don't look like much yet but those Coleus plants will grow a lot.  The Petunias are the wave variety and they may get moved to a sunnier area.

The earliest Peony is still just buds.  They typically bloom after the 21st and sometimes as late as the 30th.

The pink Weigela blooms first and the bees are swarming around it.  The red one blooms later.  Both bushes are going to be trimmed drastically after blooming this year.

30 lb. of dirt is a lot! I would love to grow tomatoes in a pot, but mine get absolutely huge and vine all over the place. I am also hoping that one of my volunteers is a Sun Gold, my favorite cherry tomato.
I grew up in northeastern Oklahoma, and the old house had been built in the 1940s. Daffodils, irises, and peonies had been planted all along the driveway, so these were old plants. Even as a young girl I loved all stages of the peonies and fell in love with their fragrance. Your flowering plants are just beautiful!

What varieties of tomatoes in pots have you chosen, Wanda? I am still holding off getting ours--still a bit of a chill in the air here with that ocean breeze factor...
Your gardens are looking lovely...hope you get good crop yields this year;))
62 here, but feels cooler out there...we are having an issue with our auto-garage door opener, so repairman is coming this afternoon --hoping we won't need a whole new door!!
Hugs, Julierose

Thirty pounds of soil per pot! Those pots are bigger than I realized.

You have quite the farm going on! I hope you can keep the squirrels out of your tomatoes. I hadn't gotten around to planting any zucchini. I guess there is still time.

Looks like it won’t take you long to find the fabrics you want for your new die. The top two look amazing. As well as your growing gardens.

I missed the description of the new die, but I know that whatever shape you cut those Kaffe prints into the results will be terrific. Your garden is a joy.

sometimes the raised beds do start to fall apart and/or rot - Mike used treated lumber on ours but still they are beginning to rot away he replaced a couple boards last year and this year I notice more - I'm just going to ignore it now with the pathways in between they will be ok for now I think. I love those colorful squares I'm wondering what you will make with them
