Weather warnings and a little cutting.........

We were under a tornado watch last evening but the storms mostly missed us.  We only got enough rain to wet the driveway and then it moved on.  We haven't had a good rain since May 1.

I got the first group of pieces cut with my new die.  They are 8" so one X block would be 16".  I don't have any idea what I'm going to make with them but I'll continue to cut and also choose a fabric for the triangles that complete the blocks.

I'm used 10" squares from layer cakes for all of the cutting.  There are 2 triangle corners of waste fabric that I will start cutting into triangles for another project.

I finished a dishcloth while watching the storms on radar until the warnings disappeared.  It got up to 93 yesterday in Chicago and broke the old record of 91.  One more hot day today and then a cooler weekend in the high 60s.

While working on clean up in the basement I found a group of strips of Christmas fabric.  For now I'll put them in the box with the rest of the Christmas fabrics.  Every year I think I'll do a Christmas in July project.  Maybe this is the year it will happen.

And just like friendship bread and sourdough starter, one project feeds another :-D I’m currently in southern Illinois and they are predicting a moderate chance for severe weather this afternoon into evening. I hope you get some needed rain soon without the severe weather.

That's pretty high for your area! We reached 97 the other day but it was below 80 yesterday, so I am happier. I really like your new die pieces!

Those nice large pieces really show off the fabric! We got a bit of a downpour this morning - 1/4 of an inch. It was hot yesterday - 82 and it will be the same today. 12 degrees above normal.

I really need to investigate die-cutting further. Just love those shapes, and those fabrics, too! 93- ouch-a bit early for that. Glad the storms did not materialize. Those Christmas pieces are just begging for July!

LOVE those large cuts. Great die for Kaffe's! I have never regretted purchasing the studio cutter. Use it often!

I saw the storm warnings on the news - looks like Wisconsin and Minnesota got the tornado warnings glad they missed you. I don't ever remember having tornadoes in Wisconsin when I lived there years ago but when my daughter lived there she had several warnings. Nice big X's on your wall

This new die is perfect for your ‘exuberant’ fabrics you used. Another dish cloth finished to get you through the storm watch. Doesn’t seem possible we’re closing in on the end of May already.

That 8" size will be great for the large-scale prints. We had hail with yesterday's storm!
