Bowtie quilt finished....................

I finished the quilt top in August 2020 and now, finally, it is a finished quilt.  The fabrics are Kaffe collective.  I used 2 sizes of Bowtie blocks, cut with my die cutter.

The back is another Kaffe fabric.  The binding that was used is the same fabric as a couple of the larger bowties.

It is 61.5" x 76" and has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it.

I was in the basement doing more organizing and found a bag with these pieces in it.  It is a precut Christmas tree skirt with fabrics from the 1980s.  I taught that class so many times.

There are 4 sizes of wedges in each fabric, except one.  The top light fabric is missing the smaller piece.  I think I always thought I was going to find some more of that fabric in my stash and cut the 2 missing pieces.

This is how the pieces line up.  It's too bad no one would want these old fabrics.  It's going to hurt to pitch the pieces into the trash.  (Update: the fabric has been claimed and will be mailed in a couple days.)

Some dear friends stopped by yesterday afternoon so I didn't do any cutting yesterday.  There is plenty of time today to work on that.

Your bowtie quilt turned out great! I love the areas with the smaller bowties, especially the light-on-dark blocks.
Don't throw away those pieces of Christmas fabrics! I think they'd make a cute tree skirt.

Love the fabric in the bowtie quilt. They play very well together. The fabrics for the tree skirt are now RETRO and you'd be surprised how popular that style has become. What is old is new again. There is a real surgence of old Christmas ornaments so these tree skirts will also be in demand.

Love that bowtie quilt! I hope your Christmas fabrics get to go to a new home, I see you have some offering to adopt them. :D

I'd take those Christmas prints! . . . . I like the contrast of the inner border for the bow ties.

Clearly others had the same reaction I did with the tree skirt fabrics - I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately jumped to "don't throw them away - let someone else love them" ... And the bow tie quilt finished out beautifully. Well done!

I like the way you used multiple sizes of bowtie blocks. It is one of my favorite quilt blocks to sew.

I like the bowtie quilt and how you turned pieces here and there and varied sizes - it looks good like that

This quilt is so unique… first look was the octagon circles, It was fun to see the ‘bow ties’ emerge as I studied it closer. Looks like your Christmas tree skirt is wanted by many.

Bright Bowtie quilt and a great idea to use two sizes of the die. Re the Christmas tree pieces - goes to show why it's a good idea to sort through all our boxes etc. I'm trying to do tht but it's taking time!
