Charley in the forest trimmed...........

Yesterday I trimmed my Charley in the Forest quilt.  Then it was time to search for a binding.  I thought I wanted red but most of the reds were more of a pink tone and most of the fabrics on the front are a red/orange.

After auditioning several Kaffe collective fabrics, this one seems the best.  It is also used on the front of the quilt.  In the photo above it is the background of the tree at the left.  I will look again today to see if I can find anything else that works.

This simulates how it will look if I use this one.

I still had 2 bags of last year's rhubarb in my freezer, shared by a friend, and I needed to use some of it.  Yesterday I baked a rhubarb cake, a recipe that I found on the internet.  It will be good for breakfasts for a few days.

the red looks good with the quilt. The rhubarb cake looks good. I had planted rhubarb 3 years ago and it is still coming back but never more than a couple stalks I noticed last year that Wal-Mart had it in the vegetable/fruit area so I splurged and bought enough to get a couple freezer bags full. I wonder if they will have it this year I will need to start checking for it again.

The binding looks great to me… but will look forward to see if you find another that pleases you even more.

And your rhubarb cake looks delicious also. 😋 And I know it is. It makes for a great morning breakfast for sure.

I like this choice for binding - but there may be others in your stash when you go hunting. Have fun with the process (what a terrific quilt to bind!).

that red fabric really looks good with your lovely quilt;)))
I am always finding it hard to find binding that goes with fronts and backs equally well...good luck...

That rhubarb cake sounds really good. We ate mini danish this morning that I got at the food store while shopping--they were a good treat....;)))

Today is a "take it easy" day here--not sleeping well with the full moon these past couple days...so bright!! Even with drapes drawn, I guess I just feel it's out there shining so brightly...
Hugs, Julierose

I think the potential binding print will work fine. You may get distracted if you search for something else. I made a rhubarb-strawberry pie yesterday. Two packages left in the freezer. Boy, it got chilly overnight!

Such a great pairing of your tree blocks with Charley’s birds. I love it! -Roxanne

Love the binding fabric that you've found but it seems to me to disappear into the reds and oranges of the two blocks it's touching in your photo. If that's okay with you, you may not need to search further, but you can if you want to!! What a wonderful quilt and another almost finish. Sweet!

Hugs!

Oh Yummy!! Rhubarb cake, a favourite of ours and as we have a huge patch in the backyard we're never short of lots of sticks.
The binding you've shown here works beautifully and I'm looking forward to seeing the fully finished quilt.

What a great Charley Harper quilt- so graphic and colorful. I am sure you will find just the right fabric for binding.
