Nine and a half years ago the top was finished. Now it is a finished quilt. I wanted it to be a summer quilt, very lightweight so it has Thermore polyester batting which is about 1/4" thick.
It finished at 77.5" x 101".
It was inspired by a quilt in a Kathy Doughty book but the top and bottom borders are my own unique addition. I also refigured all of the cutting sizes to make a quilt the size I wanted.
The back is a 3 yard cut of wide backing trimmed to size. The binding is the same as the backing fabric. Click on the photo for a closer look at the zebra background print and the binding.
Chicago (60 miles east of me) has kept weather records since the 1870s and according to records we had the second warmest Christmas day at 59 in Chicago this year. I think it was a little cooler out here in the country but still unusually warm. We had rain off and on all day so I stayed busy inside.

the weather was odd wasn't it with you being warmer there than us in the south - there was such a brisk wind to go with the cold I didn't go out and a heavy freeze this morning at first it looked like there was a light layer of snow but no heavy frost.
The quilt looks great - I have a few UFO's I need to decide what to do with this year as I want the old stuff cleared out of the boxes.

It certainly was warm here, too-- 55 degrees!! A bit cooler start to this morning--36 degrees
Our gang is coming to celebrate today...dogs, kids, etc etc...but no cooking--just pizzas and snack foods--my DIL is bringing dessert...a surprise..
I love that zebra fabric--a surprise on that pattern--really neat. nice work...

Fun and finished Quilt- what is not to like? I actually sat outside yesterday and sewed a ladder stitch on closing pillows that I finally finished. Last year, I could not have even found that spot in the yard with all the snow.
I know how you love a Zebra print and adding your ‘unique’ border is what makes this quilt so special. I enjoy your creativity every day. And what a great number of finishes for December !

It's annoyingly warm here, too, with a Christmas day high of 60*F. I mean REALLY? Rain all day tomorrow.

Oh my, you live 60 miles west of Chicago and I was raised 60 miles east of that city in Michigan City, Indiana. If I still lived there we could plan a middle ground place to meet for coffee when the winter is over. I love meeting my blogging friends in person. There are so many wonderful people in blogland :)
Six December finishes! Wow, you put us all to shame! And that’s in addition to preparing for Christmas and all the baking you did! Your quilt is lovely and unique. We’re frigid here in Salt Lake, but no snow in the valley (except what lingers in the shade). The mountains have a little snow, but not like last year.
I really like this pattern a lot and I think I could scale it for a veterans quilt. I love the zebra fabric!

I've used that same backing on two or three quilts. Bought it for a specific purpose and when it arrived, it just did not work so it waited for other projects. I like that churn dash quilt and the zebra fabric is a treat.
Great design! I envision it downsized with 3" units to be a wheelchair-sized quilt. Yes, we've had an extra-mild week and it's raining now. What a difference from the Great Plains with a Christmas blizzard!
