Bird fun, no sewing
This little guy was on the bush right outside my kitchen window. I didn't see the yellow spot on his head until I took this close up photo. He is a white throated sparrow. He is brown speckled all the way up to his striped head.
The white crowned sparrow has a lot of gray around his neck area below his striped head.
The blue jay was up in the tree near the house so I grabbed the camera and hoped he would stay long enough for a good picture. As soon as I got the camera turned on he started to fly away and then he turned and landed on the ground right next to the house.
I think he wanted to pose for me!

Pretty birds! I love looking at other people's birds. I mostly get song sparrows ... which fall under the generic LBB (little brown bird) category. And we don't have true Blue Jays, just blue Western Scrub Jays and blue Stellars Jays. It does look like your Jay is posing "Check out these tail feathers!" LOL.
Love that Blue Jay photo... we have several, along with two pair of cardinals, red-headed finches, and A LOT of varieties of sparrows.
I fondly remember the small town groceries where we lived before moving here... not at all like the folks behave at Kroger or Schnuck's here!

Great pictures! The one of the white-throated sparrow is almost a hide-and-seek. It would look great in a quilt, perhaps Ruth McDowell style!
I can never get enough bird photos ! Love them ! I even miss blue jays - none of those out where I live now. Thanks, as always, for sharing your world !
beautiful! I don't think our blue jays have that nice mosaic pattern on the folded wings like yours do... and they never stand still long enough for me to get a picture!
Terrific pictures! I just love the blue jay...don't ya just see the quilt in the blue/black mosaic in his feathers? Oooooh, pretty.
How do you get the birds to come so close? (Or do you have a super-dooper camera?) A Canadian friend commented to me recently that the American birds are all much prettier than the British ones, but the British ones are better singers. I don't know about that, but your birds are certainly pretty!
