I wish I had more to report. I hand stitched in 3 sessions, the last one being about 4 hours. My eyes were giving out at 11 p.m. so I will finish it today.
The binding is the same fabric as the border, an old Hoffman batik. The back is a Free Spirit wide sateen backing fabric. Both have been easy to stitch through.
It was only in the low 30s yesterday and snow predicted starting in the wee hours of Sunday morning and continuing for several hours. They are talking about 1 1/2" and above freezing temperatures by mid afternoon so melting will start. It's just enough to let us know winter is coming.

just enough snow to make you start thinking it is pretty for Christmas - I hope you will have someone shovel snow for you this year to clear your steps and sidewalk.
Good work getting all that done so far!! I know what you mean about eyes just giving out after a long session;000
Only 23 degrees here this morning and breezy; but it is sunny and we are all cleaned up--we just dropped into bed last night I can tell you!! I think this is our "last hurrah" for any big sit-down dinners!! The prep and clean ups are killers now that we are both in our 80's!!
But, we sure enjoyed having everyone here--[except Cassidy who works retail and couldn't come ;(( ] Hoping to see here in the near future...
We have two family members with birthdays on the 22nd and 23rd--so we were able to give our gifts in person;))) that was nice...
Hoping to begin sewing my Old Italian Blocks ("L;Autonne") together this weekend--probably tomorrow as today is a recuperation day....
Hugs, Julierose
I admire your hand stitched binding so much, as it adds to the elegance of your quilt. That was really a long way around your TAW, and I think you stitched it in record time.

I love seeing the quilt closer up so the fabrics really show on the screen. Congratulations on the almost-done binding!
18" to go!!!!!!!!!!!! I can well imagine your eyes and fingers are eager to be finished with this stitching. Hope they get some recovery time before you start stitching the binding on huge quilt #2!
Fret not about the lack of things to report today. We could just envision you enjoying the warmth of that lovely quilt as you stitched your way around its binding.
This morning I finished a small table runner and am almost finished with a wee Christmas tree quilt that's going to a 92 year old friend who no longer puts up a tree. I have a couple of other projects I hope to finish by Christmas. I think I can, I think I can!
Hugs!
You’re almost done. That is a long way around! It warmed up to about 40 here today and the sun was shining so it was pleasant outside.
