If my calculations are correct I need 2104 two inch finished triangles for the Fonthill quilt. I went through the box of large batik scraps and pulled colors I thought would work and cut for over an hour.
Since I was cutting single layers of a lot of the fabrics and I could cut 6 layers at a time with my die cutter, I needed to sort the triangles into piles of like fabric. I have started with batiks but will add some Kaffe fabrics in soon and also other regular printed quilting cottons. I will likely overcut so I have a variety that I like in the quilt and the leftovers will be seeds for another quilt.
In the Passionate Patchwork book the quilt is 72" x 78", only 6" longer than wide and that is too close to square. I will want it to be more rectangular. I will be reshaping the center section which is all triangles. Right now I think I will make it 2 rows narrower (4") and 4 rows longer (8") so it would come out 68" x 86".

It was about 10 degrees cooler yesterday than it had been for the last 4 days. I finally hooked up my hose and watered the front flower bed. We have only had one tenth of an inch of rain in 3 weeks.

That is a lot of triangles to cut--good thing you have your die cutter. I am continuing trying to "finish" layerings, backings and bindings --but right now resting my hands for a bit...
Only 50 again this morning and still hazy skies from the N>S> wildfires...it is supposed to warm up a bit in the next few days..I already miss our deck and patio sitting...hugs, Julierose
it looks like you will have a good selection of triangles to work with . I too always seem to end up cutting too many pieces but I want enough to work with.
Overwhelmed and challenging = Fonthill quilt top ! I don’t know of another quilter that would tackle this quilt top. I’m so in awe of you. And I can see, yours is going to be spectacular !

Even with the die cutter, that is a LOT of triangles to cut for the HSTs and pinwheels. A good way to use up a lot of the smaller pieces lurking in the stash, but still. . . at least the final result will be spectacular and totally worth all the effort!
Well done in getting so many gloriously varied triangles cut!
I seldom make quilts exactly like a pattern so applaud your adjustments to the Fonthill quilt so its finished size better suits you.
