After I moved the improv blocks to the basement design wall I put the dark Winged Square blocks up on this design wall. Now I can analyze both groups at the same time.
The last seam has been sewn on 4 improv blocks and the one I found on my sewing cabinet joins them. I will look through more strips to make a few more blocks now.
While I watched the men's half pipe in the Olympics I sewed one more batch of triangles. I had to see Shaun White in his last Olympics. He has influenced so many other competitors over the years and can be so proud of his competition career.

Pretty amazing what Shaun White has done in the snowboarding sport. Hope he finds a way to continue influencing the younger riders.

so individual...very pretty...
I am still not sewing except for 5 min here and there--makes it strange to try to focus...but am hanging in here recuperating from my shot...
I wish the Olympic skating and downhill events were being shown at a reasonable hour instead of the middle of the night!! I hope you have a good weekend...

I agree with Julie on the dark/light separation. Like you, I wanted to see Shaun one last time. The tricks those youngsters are doing are incredible.
The look of the dark vs. light winged blocks is so interesting. The dark one is more dramatic. I haven't been watching the Olympics. I already have too many distractions that take my focus away from what I should be doing.

I love the curglass dish (winged square) blocks. They make such a great quilt! I'm really drawn to the dark one, but they're both beautiful. Have a good day!
I really liked the combination of dark/light together. But I know all too well you will decide the perfect creation or creations.
Shaun White is one class act ! We were rooting for him, and was wishing him one last medal. But he gained even more fans with his humble, emotional farewell for the sport HE made it is today.

Those blocks are so awesome - I love that you have both sets where you can see them at the same time. Glad you found the other improv blocks that were missing.
Interesting looking at your dark and light options on your design wall. In the light design, my eye is drawn to the four patches where the corners of the blocks meet. In the darker design, I see the HSTs, and the diagonal lines of larger blocks. Amazing the tricks our brains play. they're the same blocks!
I think I like the feel of the darker one more. It seems to do a better job of showing everything that's in the blocks. Seems more dynamic.

I think I prefer the light blocks, which means that the dark ones deserve their own quilt. Now I'm awed by the improv blocks. Those will be fun to move around!
Personally, I like the dark and the light, as stand alone quilts, but they would be pretty done either way.
I think Shaun White's parents can be very proud of the young man they raised. He is definitely someone the younger generation can look up to. I had tears in my eyes when he fell, but the fact that he finished 4th. is quite the accomplishment, given his age. I read online yesterday, that he is now worth 65 million dollars. Good for him!!!!!
This is an exciting block with your beautiful colour placement, I like the split between dark and lighter blocks.
That is one great view! It has been fun watching the athletes.
