Final layout.......................

This is just a quick photo of the final layout of this pink and gray quilt.  It is my insurance in case I mix up some of the fabrics when sewing.  I decided it didn't make any difference if the dotted fabrics  were all turned the same direction.  If you look closely you can still see some dots run in straight rows and some in staggered rows, but this is a fast fun quilt.  I decided the pinks would just be scattered in a random way.  It will be a throw quilt.  I have the rows clipped and ready to sew.

This book arrived yesterday.  I have only scanned quickly through it as I had other things I needed to do yesterday.

Glad you went with the random arrangement of the dotted fabric - pretty quilt top! Haven't seen the new book yet.

Pink and Gray zig -zag layout is perfect with your fabrics. You mention before it reminded you of the pink and gray craze of the 50’s and I agree. I loved it then and still do. Your new Kaffe magazine looks like a charmer.

IMHO it makes a difference how much of a pattern is going different directions. With so many patches in each direction they all blend and my eye keeps moving. If only 1 patch had been a different direction I bet that's right where my eye would go once spotted. It also helps that it's a busy all-over small dot print. This is going to be a cute quilt, the black/white keeps it from being baby/toddler cute.
I hope you had a chance to look through the book more last night after the "must do" things were done.

Huh...right after I hit "publish" on my post I saw that there IS a pattern to how the dots go - the rows follow up and down with the zig zag. Nice!
