For commercial print fabric lovers

Here are some close up pictures of blocks from Prismatic Garden #10. I love commercial print fabrics and hand painted batiks. I look for the ones that will give me the most painterly look when I combine them.

I'm enjoying looking at your quilts. Do you have any tips on how to piece what colours in strips. I think I would like to give this method a try.

Cindy, the value (lightness and darkness)of the fabric is the most important. If you start with the dark print fabric, the next one has to be lighter and have at least one color from the dark fabric, the next one lighter again with one color from the previous strip, etc. Does this answer your question or do you want more info?

Wanda, thanks for the closeups! They do help me understand what makes #10 especially delightful. Large, multicolor prints. Wonderful fabrics! I guess I'm another commercial fabric print lover.

I do not feel comfortabl with mixing batiks with commerically printed fabrics, but you do it so well I may have to try again. You definitely have an eye for it.
