More pieces and parts

As I clean the basement for my art quilters' group meeting next Monday I have run across some boxes of pieces and parts. One box is full of 4 patches and plain squares of Kaffe Fassett fabric and batik fabric. This is my design wall when I was playing with the pieces a year ago. It is an idea from a Kaffe book, not exactly like his. I need to get this out and play again. And.....from July 2006 I was playing with these strip sets trying for a feeling of a forest scene. I took this picture and then took the pieces off the wall. I think I need to work on this too.
I am in a slump right now. I don't have a burning idea that gets me up every morning. A couple of my friends said I have overstimulation because I have so many projects started and no clear direction of what to work on. However that is the way I have worked for years and I do get some things finished. For the weekend though I have to just keep straightening up and cleaning the basement. I hope to finish that Star Trip binding tonight.

I'd say the joy of so many projects is that new ideas come whenever we come back to old things put away for another time. I really like the forest theme idea you're working on. -quiltking

The forest strippy calls loudly to me... Cleaning out always helps me when I'm in a slump (my studio is now gloriously awash with 3 projects in process all at the same time as a result of this last drought ~ but it was CLEAN before this happened).

Take care ~ all in good time...

I took a class from Elizabeth Barton who gave me permission to be attention deficit! She said to work with it... do a lot of things at once and when I get bored, move on to another. She encouraged me to leave things on the design wall though, which means I would have to strip all the walls in my house of pictures, etc. and put up flannel boards. LOL! At least you are looking through those piles and taking pictures and revisiting things. In the process of what you do, you make the rest of us burn with ideas.

A friend gave me a little magnet, "God made rainy days so gardeners would get their housework done."

What a perfect reminder of how to think about those not-so-fired-up days... blessings to you as you clean the basement!!

HMmmm~ I would say your friends are envious of your 'overstimulation'. I sure am, I would give anything to accomplish as much as you do on a daily basis.

You say you are in a slump, good night girl, go back into your own archives and see what you have shared with us. This is just catch your breath time. Besides those temps back east just zaps anyone plus the humidity.

You're in a slump? And we see 2 new/different projects?

Well, here's to a better day and more inspiration tomorrow morning! I always love to see what you're up to.

Wanda, I too am turned on by your forest strippies. But to me they're upside down. I see a pond, then trees, darker at the top. A hillside, maybe. (Of course it could be dark forest floor, foliage, then sky, but I seem to see it the other way.)

Looking forward to seeing it in person!

What helps me when I am "overstimulated" or not sure what to work on is I make small goals on each project I want to work on each month and list them publicly on my blog (after I post about it, I put it on my sidebar for a reminder). When I go into my sewing area not knowing what to work on, I then think about my list and work on one on the list. It usually goes from there.

I really like that forest look
I was having fun yesterday, playing with some of the fabrics from you.
I am working on too many things not finished. But it is nice to stop to play!

Wow! It's amazing what can be done with a simple four patch, or should I say what YOU can do with a simple four patch.

Don't think of this time as a slump, think of it as a time to finish a project. It might not be the stimulation you are looking for, but when you are done, you will have a finished project. And you know your art group will help you out with inspiration.

I'm sort of in a slump too. I've got so many projects on I 'don't know what to tackle first! In a funny sort of way I'm lucky cos when I get like that I get the Q4L box out and run up another quilt. Tht soon gets me going.

Oooooh... I love the foresty batiks. I've got a bunch of them, and I am just about beaten over the head with inspiration every day because of where I live. It hasn't come to fruition yet though.
