July 2020 monthly recap.........

No quilts got quilted, only tops were finished.
My Kaffe collective Basketweave quilt top was the first to get sewn together in July.  I think it has such a summery feel to it so it is perfect for the hottest month.  It is 60" x 75.5".

The next quilt top to get sewn together is the Marcia Derse fabric Kansas Dugout which could also be named 30 Hugs, No Kisses.  It is 60.5" x 72.5".  I did move 2 blocks since yesterday's layout.  I exchanged blocks 1 and 3 in the bottom row. and I think the balance of values is better.

Here is a view of it flipped 180 degrees.  I wasn't paying attention and hung it up the opposite direction from yesterday's photo so I flipped the first photo to match yesterday's and here you see it the other direction. Since it is a throw quilt size either direction works.  This lighting is more even in this photo.

So.....now I have 28 tops waiting to be quilted.  We are going into a cooler and less humid week so maybe I can talk myself into quilting one of them.  I mowed the grass yesterday so my outside work is done.  By the way I only mowed 3 times in July, at the very beginning of the month, in the middle and then on the last day.  It has been mostly to mow down the weeds and even out the grass because we have not had enough rain to make the grass grow very much.

Just lovely finishes ...my husband is mowing all that much either...
our grass has turned brown already...sounds like we may be in for some much needed rain with the tropical event headed our way next week...

Finishes are always good. Great job. You are right- the grass doesn't grow in the heat but the weeds do!

and here the grass has needed mowing every week since the middle of March - we need a really dry spell to keep it from growing. It needs doing again - but the last month or so hubby has been helping more with the yard work and has been busy with it - the heat bothers me more than him and we tend to have me take care of it in cooler weather and he does it in the heat of summer
Great job on the quilts

For me the fun in making a quilt is choosing a pattern and fabrics, then sewing blocks together. Quilting the layers is a necessary evil, so I usually do a diamond grid that doesn't require much, if any, marking.

My top count stands at 23, soon to increase by 2-3 when I web the clipped sets of blocks together. All in good time!
