once again the full photo doesn't show this quilt's potential. I am going to take out the big green arcs and any greens added will be the small arcs (if the green stays in there at all). I will be happy when all of the decisions are made and I can put this one behind me.
Then I decided it was time to start playing with the die cut pieces since I didn't have a clue what a layout with them is supposed to look like. So far I'm just playing to see what shapes the pieces make. I think this one has to be designed one piece at a time before anything can be sewn.
We made it up into the 70's yesterday but today isn't supposed to get out of the 40's. It was nice to have a warm day to open all of the windows and air out the house.

Perhaps one of your multi-toned red batiks would perk up the arc quilt for you. You already have plenty of green (albeit muted), and maybe need an opposite color.

Well if the objective was for the green to brighten up the quilt I'm not seeing it. I see some purple/violet in some of the fabrics. What about pulling in a fairly vibrant batik in that colour?
I think you need to relace the butterfly fabric with something else. I like the army green.
I sure can see the benefit of a design wall. I know you will create the 'perfect' arrangement for this quilt top. And it is fun for me to watch your daily recreating.
The die cut pieces are a wonderous puzzle that you will have much fun with.

I had to smile at that last picture, it may show my age, but it reminded me of the old lava lamps. Groovy!
I think the circle/arc piece is missing something. It doesn't seem to have your usual "Wow" factor. Darned if I know what it is missing though. Just doesn't sing to me. Gold? Too overpowering maybe. Purple may clash with those violets. Oh, just throw in some orange and turquiose and scare the socks off everybody!

It is still -10 C here...and it seems that spring is not even close to being around the corner.

It's helpful for me to see that one's first choices aren't binding (no pun intended)! I have a tendency to just slog through without allowing for enough time to consider the emerging design or color "issues", so THANK YOU for the lesson.
Hmmm. Maybe just squint your eyes and consider the whole thing as a white/gray/black quilt to figure out where to go next.
I like the idea of adding orange or gold somehow... Might pull out those flecks in your 'focus' fabric. (Okay, maybe you didn't actually plan it that way, but it sort of looks like the large floral 1990's Hoffman-style fabric was used to pull the colors...)

Could the problem be that it is too evenly dispersed across the quilt rather than the lighter ones in the center radiating darker towards the edges? Hard to tell from a photo.

I love looking at all your fabric choices....you have a beautiful "eye" for color and I can tell you're having so much fun! And that's the goal, right?
