I didn't accomplish much more than straightening my studio yesterday. Here is a group of fabrics that I had put together because they look pretty. Now that I have a picture of them, they go back on the shelf. The lightest fabric has some green in it which doesn't show up in the photo. It is amazing the difference between what the eye sees and what the camera sees.
I love pulling groups of fabric that go together but since most of my quilts are multi-fabric quilts I rarely make a quilt with such a limited selection. I think it has to do with the attention span. I get bored really fast working with the same fabrics over and over. I already made those quilts in my 51 years of quilting.

I have always admired the graphic impact of limited palette quilts such as the two-color red/white or blue/white quilts, but somehow I cannot get myself to make one. Maybe I have a slight case of attention problems as well.

I see several fabrics in that collection...well I either have them or something very close.
I love what you pulled off your shelf. And I can see the green in the lightest fabric.
Those fabrics would be all I need would need for a quilt. It does not bother me to use the same combination over and over.

In most cases, a limited line of colours looks better than a multi-coloured thing, because the more colours there are and the smaller the scraps, the more they tend to mashing into a sad mix, seen from a distance, unless they are composed very carefully.
Just love anything purple/lilac! The deep one on the side is my favourite. Would you use that as the boarder?
The color palette is perfect! Anything that you make with those will be fabulous! Love 'em!
I love the color palette too. I also have a problem with a limited palette. I like lots of colors or patterns. I don't want to make the same block over and over. I am the same way with my paintings.
Actually, the green shows up in the light one on my monitor. This is the thing that frustrates me the most about the digital image. It looks one way on the camera screen, another on my computer, possibly still another in my photo editing software and then once I put it out to someone else, it can look totally different again. There ought to be a law...
Same here this morning, only dark not gloomy. Maybe we will get the gloomy tomorrow. It was rather warm today. I enjoyed it! I do like the colors that you pulled together. Batiks are wonderful to work with because they pull in a lot of other colors that you might not normally think of using. Batiks also add wonderful interest. Plus the fact, they are great to press (they hold a crease well) and fabulous to sew with (they don't seem to stretch as much as commercial cotton).

I am sure you will come up with a great project with lots of different colors. Have you ever counted how many quilts you have made?
I have quilted seriously for about 12 years and I think I have made over 50 bed sized quilts - I have pictures of most of them. I make very few small quilts- perhaps one day..
How did you start quilting? Was your mother or grandmother a quilter?
I always loved quilts and did lots of sewing as a teenager but not quilting. My father's mother did quilt but she died long before I was born. I couldn't afford to buy quilts so I decided that it would be less expensive to make them LOL
Showed what I knew - especially these days because you can buy commercial quilts for much less than I can make it - sometimes for less than what it costs me to put batting in my quilts. However, having said that, I love quilting and know that the quilts I make use good fabric and are unique to me..

Yes, well, I don't see ny reason why mixing-and-matching fabrics for the sheer pleasure of it cannot be an end in and of itself!!
