Quilting and nature.....................

I have continued quilting on this baby quilt and am almost finished.  It is all ditch quilting and I just need to put a few more stitches in the background.  I hope to get it trimmed today and choose a binding fabric.

I went out early yesterday morning and watered everything and cut some volunteer tree/bushes that have been bothering me.

These are the Creeping Bellflower spires.  All of these are in the grass line along the edge of my back flowerbed.  It will be a mass of purplish blue flowers for a couple weeks and then they will be pulled out.

The Annabelle Hydrangeas in the back are doing fine but the bush at the front of the house is really in heat stress.

This is the stage of the buds on the Purple Coneflower plants in the back garden.  They are native prairie plants so they are drought tolerant.

The tomatoes have grown a little.  They don't like temperatures in the 90s.

The Evening Primrose was just starting to close up when I checked on them in the early evening yesterday.

Those are pretty butterflies on that quilt! Love the look of your gardens. So you pull out the Creeping Bellflowers instead of letting them die back and they still come back every year - that's interesting. Everything looks to be healthy in spite of the heat. All of our plants are starting to droop with the ongoing low 90s and hot breeze. I water every other day, but you just can't keep up. We have no chance of rain until next week. :(

Oh, I just adore butterflies- such beautiful ones on the quilt. Roses are full bloom here and the brighter colors of summer flowers are evident- the coreopsis, the coral bells, carnations, etc. Hot here, but not as hot as you.

The butterfly quilt is so pretty! Your garden looks like it is holding up pretty well with the little rainfall you did get and the heat. We have a chance of rain Wednesday thru Saturday every day. It would be nice not to have to water.

What a lovely little butterfly baby quilt, Wanda--Those bright colors will catch a lucky baby's new eyes perfectly;)))
So far, no tomatoes, only flowers--such heat!! "feels like" 102 here now at 8:45 a.m.!!
Tom took me to the market to pick up what I can eat--mostly easy to digest foods, carbs, etc. I tried a salad yesterday and was in some distress through the afternoon--my poor gut!! ;(((Hoping to ease back into foods this week...
hugs, Julierose

When it gets hot like right now, many folks here put out large umbrellas to help shade their plants. It looks funny but it seems to work. What a delightful baby quilt you're quilting - lucky baby!

all of the plants are looking good - I know you had said your nights are warm but they are probably cool enough after the heat of the day that the plants have a little time to recover. I think it was 77 this morning when I got up and will be back in the 90's shortly - so much of the country is dealing with this "heat dome"

I LOVE the butterfly quilt! So cheery with all the colors.
And of course, I am relishing your garden photos. I live in GA, outside Atlanta, and I have a cone flower planted, but it's not doing much yet. We had rain every day for several weeks and now hot and dry. It's feast or famine. Best wishes to you!
