Garden walk................

As I was gazing out at my back garden I noticed 2 Evening Primrose blooms.  There will be lots more.  Those pointy yellow things in the background are more buds.  This is a self spreading plant and I find it popping up many places.  It is also one of the favorite foods for Japanese Beetles but last year we didn't have many and the majority of the plants lasted all through the summer.

When I got out to the backyard I saw the first bloom on a Stella D'oro lily.  They are in the flower bed under my dining room picture window.  A friend gave me 3 plants many years ago and I transplanted them from a front garden bed to the back about 10 years ago.  I think I only have 2 plants now but this garden is so wild and crowded it's hard to tell.

A little more to the right, the tall Garden Heliotrope is nodding in the breeze.  They have a strong very sweet scent similar to lilacs.  After they bloom, the stalk starts dying and I pull them out.  It looks like they are coming out root and all, but the next year they are back.

I had to check the tomato plants while I was out there, and look....a pea size tomato!  We got a little light rain before dark and some more rain later.  That will help the tomato plants a lot.

I pulled a few weeds on my way back to the front of the house and thought I should add an updated photo of my porch pots.  They are looking good so far, but that's because we haven't had a lot of hot days.  When we get the scorching hot sun several days in a row and no rain, the plants suffer, mostly in July and August.

I just love the white petunias with the black veins.  The plants seem to be spreading out nicely.

I had a wonderful visit with the daughters of a friend of mine (who has passed away) yesterday morning.  Off and on the rest of the day I picked up the hand stitching on the binding of the batik table runner.  I will show it when it is all finished.

Your day lilies are starting while mine are winding down. Those primroses are pretty. Love your potted plants. Is that Lobelia, the blue flowers? I like those dark veined white petunias too. I rarely see anything but solid colors here. Congratulations on the tomato!

I have never seen white petunias with black veins. They are beautiful and so are your porch pots.

So pretty! Your plants are a lot farther along than mine, perhaps because I'm just a mile west of Lake Michigan.

And what a lovely garden walk it was too ❣️. Especially on your front steps ~ such lovely welcome for all.

all of the flowers are looking so pretty. I love this time of year when all the color is present. I do have tomatoes on most plants but two of the plants still have none - that happens now and then. This won't be a canning season!! I don't usually stop and buy them from someone but just can if I have them. This year I will take break.

I have never seen that variety of petunia - they're gorgeous! And yes, things will look a lot less lush as soon as the early summer rains disappear and the temperatures soar. Sigh.

It is so great to walk outside and see growing flowers and plants. This time of the year it smells so wonderful. I have some carnation in a pot on my deck and their perfume is such a mood booster.

I love seeing all your pretty plants and flowers (and tomatoes). You have so many that we can't grow here. The differences are what make it so interesting! Love your porch pots, too!

Your garden is so pretty with color popping up everywhere. So nice that your late friend's daughters came for a visit.
