Nature walk.......................

I went outside around 4 yesterday to take a few pictures of my crispy plants.  This Coral Bell was a pretty deep green and purple until 2 days ago.  The plant will survive but it will be scarred for the rest of the summer.

The Hosta on the right is starting to show signs of crispy areas but the other one is still looking OK. They are in the east sun until around noon.

This Hosta is in the shade about an hour earlier than the other 2 and has a flower shoot already.

The porch pots are doing pretty well.  The Lobelia in one pot looks like it might not make it and the Petunias in the front pot have no flowers currently.  They are the white with black veins variety.  I think they might come back OK.

The black-eyed-Susans are very hardy and haven't shown any signs of stress.  They are full of buds.

Around 6:15 p.m. yesterday a little tiny storm on radar was approaching and suddenly it was larger and we got heavy rain for almost 15 minutes, 1/2" in the rain gauge.  There were only scattered storms on radar all afternoon and it didn't look like we would get any so it was  a wonderful surprise.  We have gotten a little over 2-3/4" of rain now this month.  About 4" is normal.  This beats last month's 1.8" anyway.  Now maybe our half green/half brown grass will turn all green again.

What beautiful gardens! I'm so glad you got a good shower. Your plants look gorgeous to me, love the hostas. Mine still only has about 3 leaves on it - lol! Your porch potted plants are so pretty. I actually saw Lobelia at Lowe's the other day. Seems like it would not survive a day in our heat.

Uh-oh--"crispy" is not a good look for your plants--hoping the rains will soften them...and/or new growth will start for you...
those Black-eyed Susans are really drought proof.
Hugs for a great weekend and some rain, too Julierose

The gardens still look good despite the lack of rain. It won't take much rain for things to bounce back. It rained here yesterday afternoon so I didn't have to go out and water which was nice!

sorry you are not getting the rain - we had so much for awhile and then nothing, the weatherman said rain off and on all next week, we will see if that happens. Our hostas are at the same stage the spikes for the flowers came up and I'm waiting for them to open.

This morning's forecast said a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Then 4 storms rolled through in 4 hours dropping 3.2" of rain. Lots of flooded roads and basements. Last Wednesday another series of heavy rains took out a bridge about a mile from my house and damaged another road nearby. It's been crazy.
