I was spending a lot of time looking for the centers of blocks that needed to be quilted around. I decided to mark all of the unquilted ones with a safety pin, all 94 of them. Then I counted how many I have quilted around and there were 68. I'm not even half done; I'm disappointed by that for sure. Those numbers were after I quilted around 8 centers last night.
When I dug up the largest of the volunteer tomato plants yesterday, I found out it was 4 plants growing very close together. I also dug up some of the small volunteers and ended up potting 4 of them and replanting the 2 largest ones. I went out as the sun was setting and put the 2 tall cages around the 2 that I had planted. Then I saw there was one more volunteer that I missed and it's not in a good spot so I'll put that one in a pot for now too. My neighbor is gone for a few days so when she gets back I'll share some more with her. We planted one volunteer in her large pot 2 nights ago.

It's fun to see what the volunteers produce, isn't it? Hope the quilting will go more quickly now that you've marked the units.
I might try to pot one of my volunteer tomato plants - I found another one yesterday. I swear the volunteers are doing better than some of my "bought" plants. I have one tomato plant that is lush and producing and one that is lush with no tomatoes and one that is puny with a few tomatoes. I'm not sure what happened.
Sounds like you have a lot of stitching to do. It does take time to do all that detailed stitching, but it will be beautiful in the end!
Love the closeup of your quilt! -Roxanne
I don't think I have ever found a volunteer tomato plant in the garden, I guess I strip the plants pretty bare when I pull them up before I carry them to an area that we burn - I find nothing growing as I walk to that area because it always gets mowed so none would have a chance to grow I guess.
Your days this week have shown many hours of work inside and out. Thank you for all your photos along the way. Sounds and looks like more of the same till you finish the detailed stitching on your Crooked Cobblestone.
Friends, plotting/planning and Subway - can't get much better than that !
