A day of playing with stash............

I didn't do much yesterday, another day over 90 with high humidity.  I picked the first tomato rather than leaving it to be completely red and to be squirrel bait.  I had a golf ball to use for size comparison.  Tomato plants like temperatures 72-80 the best and we have had high 80s and low 90s.  The tomatoes haven't grown much but the number of days to ripeness was here.

There are a few sunflowers growing in the area of the bird feeders.  This one is about 3 feet tall and has a bud.  The squirrels sometimes climb them and break them off so whether I'll actually see a bloom is in question.

The first Purple Coneflower bloom of this summer!  I took this photo just before sunset so the color is vivid.  I'll have to check tomorrow to see if any are blooming in other areas of the back garden.

I'll work on the monthly recap today.  I could have done it yesterday, should have done it yesterday.  Instead I just looked through stacks of fabric.

The color of the coneflower is beautiful. Playing with stash on such a hot humid day sounds more fun than the monthly recap ;-)

No little green tomatoes as yet here--it's been so hot!!
Watering daily...
71 this morning and dewpoint only 67--down at last from the 70's...
hoping to sit out on the deck before the day's heat comes in...
hugs, Julierose

That tomato looks great. Production on my tomatoes this year is poor. I saw a photo yesterday of a Cherokee Purple tomato I picked this time last year, and it was almost as big as my hand. Not so lucky this year.
The coneflower is a spectacular color! Hope your sunflowers get to bloom. Mine have yellow mottled leaves but they are at least big and blooming.

Play days are a necessity, not a luxury. I bet your time looking through fabric resulted in inspiration.

Let's hope the sunflower gets a chance to bloom. The coneflower is so pretty!

With your heat and especially humidity, I can totally understand your day yesterday. Even though your tomato is small Its going to taste delicious .

Testing to see if I can post a comment here once again...
Yesterday's review of your stash was a well deserved joy and kept you in your cool home, away from the heat and humidity.

Hugs!

I do the same with my tomatoes when they start to get the least little bit orange color I pick them to ripen in the house before the bugs or squirrels get them or whatever comes in over the fence of the garden I know it would be small creatures

I have several tomato plants whose tomatoes are that size. They are called Tommy Toes, and they grow very well here. We have sunflower plants here, too, that the critters have planted. I watched with amazement one day as a blue jay dug a hole with his beak and planted a sunflower seed. You never know what you will see out there!
