I still had the bin of my parents' photos on the dining room table since the day my cousins visited. I decided they weren't going to sort themselves so I spent 3 hours yesterday, making some progress. Most are from my mother's side of the family. I sorted into piles of 3 generations, my brothers and me, great aunts and uncles and their families, and one pile of "who is this?". I will need to go back through some of the piles again but for now I can put them back into the bin with labels inserted into each bag.
I got 39 four patches sewn last night and have 13 cut and ready to sew.
I think the snow will stay north of us today but we will get rain and about 45 degrees, another good day to stay inside.
I can see some peonies growing in the back garden and the first sighting of pink in the Redbud trees. I hope we don't get another freeze.

Those old family photos can be fun. We have several “who is this” photos also.
We had one of my aunt…but we couldn’t be sure which sister it was.
It's fun to see the old stuff, but what do we do with it in the end? My brother recently sent me a box of Daddy Bill's diplomas going back to junior high up to professional certifications. Interesting, but ...
Pretty four patches mounting up;)))
Some of those "and who was this?" photos are fascinating to ponder...I have a lot of those and they go into my Junque Journal pages...
29 cold degrees here this morning--and windy so the windchill is @ 23-25. Feels more like February than April out there..
Stay warm hugs, Julierose
More power to you to get the photos sorted and labeled (those you can identify). I imagine the four-patches set on point . . .
The four patches are looking good! I have got at couple of bins of photos from my parent's house. I have sorted thru a lot of them, but I really need to do something with them. I can imagine that in the next several generations they won't have to deal with actual physical photos because all their photos will be on their phone or the cloud.
We have several boxes of old photos, our life together plus those I inherited from Mom. I am the only one left in my family, as my 2 brothers as well as parents are gone, so I am torn about what to keep and what to toss. But it needs to be done!
I so enjoy seeing your precise centers of each foursome for your blocks. And stitching them in record time yet. And your combinations are perfect.
I keep procrastinating about tackling four huge boxes of them (my parents his parents and ours) and not sure if the kids are even interested today. These ‘Smart phones’ with their photos seem to be enough for them.
I too have been wading thru hundreds, if not thousands, of photos over the winter. After my Mom’s passing I collected her photo albums and made sure to note the German relatives I was sure of. I’m sharing these photos with my 3 siblings and my 2 children. I hope these will be passed onto their children. Hopefully, they’ll have an interest in their own history and of those who came before them.
I love your love of color!
Ah, family photos! This is another downside of only children marrying as there is no one who wants these photos. Alas, our sons aren't very interested. Oh, yes, there are a stack of "who is this" and there is no one left to ask. My mother was good about writing who is in each photo, where it was taken, and the date, and I do the same but that goes for our little family. I'll admit I've kept a couple because the little girls 100+ years ago were just so cute.
Love your cheerful 4 patches!
We had a freeze last night when the low was 29*F. The weeds were unaffected.
Hugs!
I'm so glad that my Mom did all that sorting when she moved! Saved me a task for later.
that is neat to label the photos for the family. I remember going through boxes of photos after mom died when we were cleaning out her place. We brought the photos back to one of my brothers house and got around the table and sorted and we had all the "who's this question" as a photo would circulate around the table.
