I needed to clean off the top of my sewing cabinet so 11 Broken Dishes blocks got sewn and the rest of the triangles went back into the 3" Kaffe fabric parts box. I will probably put these blocks in the Kaffe orphan block box for now.
Next up was trimming the Tilda 16 patch quilt and cutting the binding strips.
The backing fabric was a purchase around 1975-6. It was 38" wide. I always liked the woodblock type prints and the color of this one went well with the Tilda fabrics.
I always start my hand sewing a few inches before a corner. I got 2/3 of a long side stitched last night.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. I gave all of my 100+ year old postcards to a cousin but I had this photo from several years ago to share today.

Oh I also love woodblock prints--the one you've chosen is perfect for your Tilda piece;)
62 this morning--warm, cloudy and humid today...even overnight the temps didn't drop off...The wind is picking up now and gusting quite a bit...
Your Broken dishes start is really pretty...
Hope your easter is a good one--ours is quiet this year--no company and we will watch F1 Race....hugs, Julierose
The black and white looks great against those pretty prints! Happy Easter to you.
Many, many years ago I made a dress from woodblock-style print. I didn't realize that was what it was, but I surely enjoyed the fabric and the dress. And I'm still drawn to such prints. I've got a lot of Easter postcards, too, some that were mailed and some that were not.
Happy Easter, Wanda!

finally putting to use the fabric from the mid 70's lol - isn't it amazing how old some of the fabric is that we have in the stash!
I do that too, starting the binding a few inches before a corner…..corners are fussy so I like to get one out of the way and it’s easier to judge how much remains to be sewn!
A special Easter Sunday post today Wanda. From your Broken Dishes blocks ~ Tilda backing and binding ~ and a lovely array of Easter Cards from days gone by. I enjoyed every photo and story that goes with them.
The Tilda quilt looks so good with the blue binding and that backing. I do the same thing when binding (even by machine). One down and only three more to navigate. Happy stitching!
I do like the look of your Broken Dishes blocks, would love to see you make more for a quilt! Your binding goes beautifully with the Tilda fabrics, and those postcards are little treasures.
Happy Easter to you too! Lately I've stopped looking at facebook on Sundays.
