4 patch borders..................

I gave up on my idea for a new quilt and used all of the 4 patches for the border for this quilt top.  The sides were about 1/4" short for the 4 patch borders so I just trimmed the 4 patch on the end of the border.  It is 39" x 51" right now.

Now I have to decide if I am going to add one more twig print border around it.  Each border is wider from the center out so this last one (if I use it) will be 3".  The other option is to just have twig fabric as binding.  The collage below shows it before borders through audition for one more border.

I took my camera with me when I filled the birdfeeders.  From the kitchen window I could see the Scilla blooming and wanted a photo of it.

It was so nice out (sunshine and 53 degrees) that I stayed out and dug up the volunteer orange ditch lilies that had survived my digging the last 5 years.  I'll never get rid of all of them but there are about 20 less now.

The Lenten Roses are in full bloom now.  Two of the plants have 2 different color blooms on them.  This one is mostly pink.

The other is mostly white.  I'm hoping they will spread seed and more plants will come up.

The third plant has lighter pink flowers.

Love the 4-patch as a border, and the twig print looks perfect.
Are the "ditch" lilies also known as Tiger lilies? Were they just in a bad spot, or do you just not like them?

Love how you used that pretty twig print...the wide border of 4-patches is really neat!!
35 here this rainy morning--the fog has begun to roll in from the ocean, too...

Maybe just add the twig board at the long sides to balance out the proportions? It is such a fun quilt! I will have to take some pictures of all the little Lenten roses that came up from seeds. I have hundreds of them! I think a lot depends on how cold our winter are. Last winter was a bit warmer so in the spring I had hundreds of plants! Never had that many ever before. I have found new plants here and there, but never that many.

I know you will decide what to do with the borders on this one, it’s magnificent no matter what you decide. Your Little Lenten rose plants sure have put on a nice show for you.

If you have enough of the Twig for that somewhat wider border, go for it! I'm not familiar with Lenten roses...will look them up. The lawn service cleaned up and mulched yesterday.

I remember years ago we called Ditch Lilies Tiger Lilies and then I learned here in Arkansas they were just called lilies and the tall ones with the orange flowers and black specks on them were called Tiger Lilies - so many names for plants

I like the addition of the twig fabric. It seems like it finishes the quilt better.

I, too, love the addition of the last twig border! I think it brings the other twig borders into focus a bit more, if that makes sense. I have to laugh about the ditch lilies only because our home of 28 years had multitudes og daffodils…seriously loads of them as every couple of years I would thin them out and plant the bulbs elsewhere. Learned from a neighbor that the folks that bought our house is trying to get rid of them. They are digging them up and selling the bulbs on Facebook. Why I’m laughing is that I know daffodils are a lot like ditch lilies…….you can’t really get rid of all of them!
