This is the view from my sewing chair at 9 p.m. last night. I worked on the binding a little and earlier in the day cut some more batik pieces. I needed a break from both projects so I gathered up all of the Kaffe collective 2.5" strips that weren't a full length and started sewing contrasting values together. At this point I'm thinking 4 patches with one of two different ideas as their landing spot.
This is a better photo of all of the ones that are sewn so far. I need to press them before I can crosscut them and make the 4 patches.
These are the pieces that are left, a lot of them needing a partner that isn't in the pile.
I'll get back to the binding today and maybe do some clean up on the table tops.
We didn't get any snow yesterday but Chicago got a little. Last night went down to the mid 20s and maybe snow Wednesday and next Monday is supposed to be 70 for a daytime high. From long sleeves to short sleeves we will go.

Those are some fun fabrics you have in your piles. It is amazing how you can take a pile of pieces and there is enough to make a quilt out of them. NE Ohio is not having a very nice spring. At least tomorrow it is forecasted to warm up and the snow we are getting today will be gone.
Oftentimes "mindless" piecing turns into an unexpectedly great quilt. Sunny and chilly this morning!
Mindless sewing is sometimes the very best sewing, especially when you are thinking about how you'll use the pieces. I need to do that more often.
How much fun to pair these up and just "sew". You will have so many lovely 4 patches to work with now;)))
39 here this gray morning...we had rain on and off all day long yesterday--hoping for some sunshine later on today...
I have only 4 sets for the box-ey squares left to put together....I may get 2 lap size quilts out of these with sashings...

Mindless sewing- my fave! Isn't it fun to revisit those fabrics and scraps and pair them up?
sewing light and dark stripes together and then cut into squares sounds like a good idea I might need to do that sometime I have so many fabric pieces that I have no plain for
Interesting combinations you are stitching together. I look forward to seeing them cut into 4 patch blocks.
What yummy fabrics you've been cutting and sewing together!! I see you're sneaking up on finishing that binding, too. Will enjoy seeing what grows from the 4 patches and other bits.
We got 1 3/4" of rain yesterday and all is mushy outside.
Hugs!
It makes such a difference to "rest" your mind with a change in gears on the sewing projects. All of your combinations look great! I think last night was our last cool one for a while. Now we head into Summer.
