Spring taking its time...............

I checked my post from a year ago today and we were way ahead of this year's growth in the garden.  I still have bare ground in some backyard gardens and last year it was almost half filled in with large plants.  The Redbuds show progress but it will still be a week or more before full bloom.  That is really the normal time for them to bloom so I think last year we had an early spring.

The earliest peonies are about a foot tall and I can see lots of the other ones starting to grow too.  It got up to 74 yesterday but now we will be back in the 50s for a few days.

I cleaned the leaves out of one more front flowerbed where the Columbines and Cranesbill are.  They should grow faster now.

I really didn't do much yesterday but play with some of the triangle squares that I had already sewn.  None of these blocks are sewn, just pieces laying there.

Your yard looks beautiful! How nice to have those spring blooms each year, and it's interesting to see how they do not adhere to a set schedule. ;)
When we moved here October 2020, the front landscaping had been neglected for years. But by spring we had visited nurseries and had our front beds full of blooms and all kinds of plants and bushes - it looked beautiful. Now we've cut back to just bushes and day lilies and are letting the beds "grow in" a bit to make them smaller. Summers are just too brutal for our west-facing beds.

pretty blocks sofar.....cherry blossoms abound here and it's in the 70s today maybe even 80...so won't be long until summer is here in earnest...

Our front former garden area is finally showing signs of grass growth--a couple warmer days did it--but on the whole Spring seems slow to arrive here, too. My daffodils are really extravagant this year--so pretty dancing away in this continuing wind...which, is still very cold!! Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one,,hugs, Julierose

most all my plants are on schedule except the Rose of Sharon bush - it has yet to produce a leaf, I looked really closely at it yesterday and finally see a couple specks of green where it might be leaf buds. I really am surprised everything else has leafed out over the last several weeks this is the only bare thing in the yard.

I think all of us that live “up north” are on the same spring schedule this year. Just waiting for it to calm down and get into a nice warm spring. And Nice playing with your triangle squares.

It always feels good to clean out the flowers. When we arrived at our cabin there were lots of oak leaves to be raked but we had to go gently as all the daffodils were/are in bloom.
