Hoffman Challenge

Do you remember the zebra print they chose for the Hoffman Challenge in 1988 or 89? I loved the print and bought it in every color. I used polyester batting and not very much quilting back then so this is a little wobbly looking. I named it Jungle Heartbeat and it is a bargello style quilt. It didn't win any prize but it was in one of the travelling exhibits for a year.

Wanda, I just read your addition on Oct 3, wondering if you were posting too often. -- Certainly not!! I think it's clear that we all love your blog, as much as we can get. (But as the others said, you should post as much or as little as you want to.)

On the teal/zebra quilt, I love the deep blue border--or maybe it's a wide binding. I wouldn't have thought of that, and it really works.

Love your blog!!

This layout in a bargello is a nice surprise with the fussy cut zebra peering through the leaves.

I've another question for you... what do you do to keep your imagination fired up? Does all this come from being absorbed with making quilts, or do you do other things that spark ideas?

good stuff!

I love the way the Zebra's appear to be moving towards me! Wonderfully novel.

WOW !!! "Zebra's in the Mist" Your quilts always tell a story. Again you present us with YOUR "Exuberant Color", and a smashing bargello design framing the elegance of those zebra's.

Cool! Looks like the zebra is popping out to the jungle. I did the HC in 2003--a jacket. It was fun to do, but stressful. I almost did not finish it in time for the deadline! It did not place, but it travelled with the trunk show for a year.

I love the zebra fabric too, and the way the zebra is hidden in the print. You found a perfect way to use it.

I recently put it on the back of a quilt, and like the back as much as the front.
I've had it all these years and couldn't cut into it. It's caution as well as, probably, lack of imagination.

Thanks for sharing
