Sorting by value...........

As I was dividing the Kaffe scraps into dark, medium and light for the Plaid-ish quilt I decided the mediums will all be pinks, reds, or oranges. Because so many of Kaffe's fabrics are multicolor, a lot of them got eliminated from the selections. I didn't get all the way to the bottom of the bin.  I will look at the sizes I need to cut and decide how many of these I really need.

As I work on the Plaid-ish quilt I'll decide if any need to be removed, or if I need  more.

I might be able to add a medium purple to the red, orange, pink group.  I may need to remove the darkest reds.  Time will tell.

The dark ones with red in them may need to be removed.  I'll only know when I get some pieces cut and can lay out some blocks.

If you want to see the designer's finished quilt, you can search for Plaid-ish quilt and click on the Kitchen Table Quilting link to the tutorial.  My quilt will be a little deeper toned if I stay with the red group for my mediums.  I'll make decisions as I play with the cut pieces.

Sorting multi-colored fabrics I find to be difficult! Sometimes I just put them in a separate bin and then pull as they fit ...looks like you have a good start on getting your fabrics lined up;)))

Seeing as I cannot seem to come to a decision about what to make next, I am going to try to concentrate on finishing up my WIPS. I will take them out of my spare room closet and see what i have to work on...
Up early with my sore back this morning--it'll straighten out as I move about hopefully--26 degrees--our security light just went on --a racoon skittered its way across our side lawn--big one!!
Have a good day hugs, Julierose

Love seeing the sorting process. Takes constant comparing and decision making. Hope you rewarded yourself with a nice cup of tea afterwards.

This will be a striking quilt and I bet you had fun pulling fabrics. I seem to remember you doing another quilt with a plaid-like look but didn't know a good way to search for it. It is in the 20s here today. Winter is here!

Showing us the very beginning of a quilt top has been an education in itself. And for you to always have such an awesome stash to work with, is beyond anyone’s imagination.

I spy the dots fabrics making their way into this quilt. I love seeing fabrics from one quilt being used in another.

Thanks for sharing this quilt design with us. I just downloaded it to make ‘sometime’. Looks like a great lesson in color value

It's interesting to see how the prints sort out -- a multicolor that might seem to have more of This Color turns out to work better in the stack of That Color. Your methodolgy is very helpful.

This is going to be such an exciting 'full of colour' quilt.
