August Monthly recap..............

I worked on many projects in August but didn't complete any quilt tops.  I did have 2 finishes though, numbers 12 and 13 for 2019.  The black and white was an old WIP just needing its border which I did in May.  It finished at 44" x 68" (before washing).  The main part is from a pattern called "Keep Out" by Maple Island but I changed the border to just use parts I already had made.  The other one is my second x and + quilt.  On this one I have alternated blocks with darker Xs with blocks with lighter Xs hoping the diagonal grid is stronger that way.  It finished at 48" x 68".
I was taking a photo of the text fabric selvage for someone who asked about it and I didn't notice the high heel shoe until last night.
This is the other x and + quilt I pieced in 2013 and quilted in 2015.  It is all scrappy with both light and dark backgrounds in the blocks.  I think I want to make one more of this pattern maybe with a theme rather than such random fabric choices.

We got some gentle rain late yesterday afternoon and again after 10 p.m.  I left the weeding til afternoon, and darn, it rained so I couldn't go out......

Yesterday was my pacemaker's 2nd birthday.  It is the only reason I'm still here.  My heart rate was 30 beats per minute when I got to the ER.

Thank God for giving you two more years! I am on bonus year and a half from no beats per minute courtesy of the heart attack. I find the time such a gift although I get frustrated I can't get more done. The new X quilt is so beautiful and it does have a strong diagonal as well as gorgeous color.

So happy that you are still here, regardless of how!!! Science and medicine are great! Of the 2 X&+ quilts I like the recent one much better. Has delightful glow to it.

Yes, we are happy you are here too. I have two sons who will be getting pacemakers sometime in the future. They are wonderful little things! Loved your finished quilt tops, really nice. We’ve had a fair share of rain here too and I always end up weeding afterward, they come up so easily. I dislike the gloomy skies all day long though, I love our sunshine.

Love your scrappy quilts. Such bright colors. You make it look so easy although I know you do a lot of previewing, and planning. Happy birthday. How special to have 2 birthdays every year. Keep inspiring all of us.

I so agree with all of the commenters, and so happy you're still flying around your studios like a humming bird. Your August finishes sure make a wonderful Sunday post.

It's fair week in Sandwich, and those old yearnings come flying back wanting to be there. The best fair in IL. by far.

Thanks for showing the two X quilts -- what a difference fabric placement makes. The black/white next to the colorful X looks as though you edited both photos -- one to grayscale and one to intensify the color!

Glad the pacemaker keeps you hale and hearty! (Or good-hearted?) (Both!)

I love both of these x and + quilts but my favourite is the first one.
Happy Birthday to your pacemaker!! My 10th comes up next year - fingers crossed - and we both shared the same heart rate!

Hooray for all your followers AND you that technology and your bod are working well together. On a quilty note, I have been "slobbering" with delight at your "X and +" quilts, and wonder if this is a Kaffe Fassett inspiration design or is it wonderful because it's your design using HIS amazing fabrics? While I can draft the pattern, is this design totally the result of your amazing talents or is there a sample in one of his books? ... inquiring minds, you know ... itchy fingers as well.

My fav X&+ quilt is the 2013 one - I LOVE the randomness of it! Not to mention the dynamic fabrics you used.
And hooray for your 2nd anniversary!!!! My mom just hit her 20th this year!
