Still hand stitching..............

It wasn't a matter of not keeping busy, I just couldn't stay motivated to finish the hand stitching on the binding.  I did some sorting and cleaning up which feels like more of an accomplishment.  I have 2 more empty storage boxes.  There are 4 alike so they will be used for sorting bins as I continue cleaning up.

One of the things that keeps getting moved from place to place is a stack of improv blocks made with Kaffe collective fabrics.  I get them out and think I will do something with them, and when no great idea surfaces they go back into a box again.

Last week I kept thinking Friday was Saturday so then I had a real Saturday next and now this holiday weekend will have me confused which day is really Monday, the day with no mail or the first day with mail.

Many of our neighbors are confused, too — Monday is our usual trash pick up but not today because of the holiday. Only two of us remembered to wait an extra day before rolling our carts to the street. Those improv blocks are gorgeous … several ideas popped into my head as soon as I saw them.

I had one of those non-motivated days on Saturday, so sorted buttons from Mom/Grandma by color. I'm not sure how good of a job I did, I was having trouble telling dark blue or brown and black apart sometimes. Going through each color and matching up buttons will wait for another of those days. The improve blocks are pretty, their great idea day will come...

Binding and improv are two of my favorite quilting tasks. Never fear! You'll make progress on both in good time, Wanda.

I love all of the quilts you make, but I always think that you must have many many scraps. If you ever need anyone to take your fabric scraps off your hands, I'm willing! Keep on making those terrific quilts! I just wish I was half as productive as you are.

You'd think since we don't work that at least we could keep track of what day it is, right? Not gonna happen. I regularly have to find something (computer, phone, calendar or whatever) to tell me what day it is and certainly the date. So you are not alone.

Love the improv blocks. I have some blues ones that I have been using as leader/enders with no idea how to use them. Made a bunch of Lynne's birds today.

With the Kaffe Collective fabrics no scrap should be left behind! Improv will be great. Last week I read a book by Jane Sassaman where she refers to "personality prints," meaning her own fabric line but also Kaffe Collective and Tula Pink, etc., etc.

Look for "Frankenbags," designed by a Portland blogger who makes assorted Kaffe blocks, often highlighting them with knock-out black and white Kaffe prints. Unfortunately I can't remember her name, but I do love those bags!

Gad, I hate getting old! Her name is Agilejack, and you probably know her already! She has two lovely dogs and a fabulous eye for color.

Those improv blocks are so pretty. If nothing else just sew them together and make a quickie baby quilt. That is great you are emptying out storage boxes then using those same boxes for things you actually use. I made myself a rule years ago that I wouldn't buy any more storage boxes. If I needed a bin, I had to empty one out. It had just gotten too easy to just go buy more. Sorting things out and straightening up is a good feeling.

I think holiday weekends confuse all of us! I also find with lockdown I lose track of what day it is. I hope you eventually come up with a project for your improv blocks, I really like the look of these and you seem to have quite a few there.
