The roofing begins............

This was the scene out my back windows yesterday.  About 2/3 of the roofing job is done and they will be back at 7 this morning to finish.

I went to the basement and basted another third of the African fabric quilt.

Then I decided to pull out this old Stepping Stones project and put it on the design wall so I could see where I am with it.  I tore out some papers and only have a few left to do.  I have the narrow black strips cut, just have to get them to the right lengths for different areas.

I finished up the day sewing the postage stamp seams in one direction.  They are just waiting to be pressed so I can sew the seams the other way.

nice you were able to escape to the basement studio - roofing is kind of loud!

It will be so nice to have the roof done before winter comes! It is nice they protected your windows.

That Stepping Stones quilt is beautiful! The black sashing really compliments the blocks so well! You are getting a lot done this month!

It always amazes me how fast roofing is done and the lack of fear the workers have.

Stepping Stones is an absolute striking piece. Each block is mesmerizing with the sharp pointed slivers joined together. I love the black pieces resembling mortar between each "stone". Ever so stunning to say the least. And then there's your postage stamps, your patience with those teeny, tiny pieces, only you would continue to pursue.

P.S. I know it will be nice to have your roof all complete and just think a quiet day to enjoy tomorrow.

I bought the Stepping Stones pattern when I first saw your blocks, quite a while ago now, but in the end the pattern just sat in the drawer and eventually I gave it to a friend but I'm not sure whether she ever made a start either.
