Last night I sewed some Hunter Star half blocks. I will have the iron on today and then I can press them and sew the half blocks together.
I kept thinking the half blocks look like fish so I laid them out in vertical columns to see how the dark and light halves of the blocks would work together. I think it might work better if all of the lights were a consistent value. I have worked mediums in as both lights and darks as I am making the star blocks.

I like the color combination of these blocks - red and green without looking like Christmas. This is going to be a beautiful quilt!
I think these pieces have a lot of sparkle to them. Looks like fun laying them out.
the half blocks do look something like fish - I did a fish quilt once using blocks something like that
I agree with Patty A - Christmas colors but not so 'in-your-face" about it. Lovely blocks in the making.
I've always liked the detail of the hunter star design. Your new blocks really show it off.

The Hunter's Star is such a pretty pattern and I love it in batik fabrics...
Your blog is so well-named --not only is your color sense exuberant but so right on...;)))

I rather like the layout - non star form, but fish form. That would make for a very interesting quilt!
But the colours are gorgeous and I just love the mixed fabric coloured star.
Yes, in zebra stripes the block would look like angel fish. What a great idea!
I'm planning a scrappy Hunter Star quilt. What size is each block? 6 inches for each quarter block? Just trying to figure out scale. Thanks.
