The color is way off in this photo, but it is showing the progress from yesterday.
The top 8 rows are all sewn together, trimmed at the left edge but not on the right side.
Below that is 2 more rows sewn together. The next row is at the sewing machine, and the bottom 4 rows are waiting to be sewn. I decided to just lay the bottom row on the floor instead of pinning it to the design wall. I think this one will end up around 47" x 67" and I'm thinking about putting flannel on the back so it will be a cozy nap quilt.
This little box of 2" triangles is sitting on my sewing cabinet calling to me every day. I will ignore it though until next month.
It got up to 52 yesterday so I went out and filled the bird feeders. I really haven't seen many birds all winter. The squirrels have been raiding the feeders so I only fill the feeders every 2-3 weeks. Then I watch the squirrels search for seeds on the ground. Once it is cleaned up well, I put in more seed.

It’s kind of funny you mention this could be a cozy nap quilt, because you don’t strike me as someone who naps. You seem to get such a variety of things done each day. Thankful you share them with us because I have learned a lot from you! I really like this quilt and have been studying it (fabric values, etc) to figure out the “recipe” (as Kaffe would say). I don’t have a lot of batiks so would need to be mostly “regular” fabrics. Do you prewash the flannel when you use it for backing? Just wondering if shrinkage is a problem if you don’t prewash.
You've really made a lot of progress on this lovely quilt, Wanda;)))
It will certainly make a beautifully comforting nap quilt...
40 here this morning and sunny. We are going to meet friends for
lunch at our favorite restaurant; so looking forward to that...good
to get some social time out...not much of that these days for us..
Hugs, Julierose
That really will make a cozy nap quilt! I have the same question as Sally about prewashing flannel.
I like the way the design kind of vibrates the longer I look at it. You have made great progress and it is almost sewn together! You have your container of 2" triangles and I have that those boxes of strips that I just want to dig into! Cherie did a great job of stacking them in that box for me as she cut them. All the strips for more baby quilts out of the fabric the last two baby quilts I worked one, were all together and easy to pull out of the box. The rest I will have to sort thru, but that will have to wait until this weekend.
LOL. Those triangles are going to drive you crazy with their muttering! Meanwhile, the work in progress is so lively! Yesterday's warm temp and sunshine were so welcome. Rain today.
Good progress with your Rectangle assembly line. It really is full of fun exciting fabrics.
I feed my birds every day, and the deer seem have taken over and the birds don’t get their share very often. I felt sorry for the deer as we had such a heavy ground cover of snow for so long. But now with temps in the 50’s, snow is almost gone ~ I think I can chase the deer away without feeling guilty. My song birds get sunflower seeds in the feeders but my quail get a mixture of seeds and sunflowers on the ground .
I really like the look of this with those narrow strips in it. A lot of sewing and pressing involved for sure
Oh how can you ignore those triangles?! That would be impossible for me. That's why I have so many ufo's. Lol
What wonderful and speedy progress on this delightful and growing quilt. Flannel on the back? Great idea!
Last week I made a simple little wall quilt for the friend of a friend who had a stroke and is in a boringly plain rehab room. This friend's favorite color is blue so I cut a floral bouquet fabric with a medium blue background into a rectangle that let me center the colorful bouquet (it was 10"x14") and added two borders, first a narrow white background with blue line drawings of flowers and leaves and the outer border a blue that was a good match to the background of the center fabric. It ended up 14"x 17". Navy binding with little flowers, a label, and it's ready to send. Now I want to make a little quilt for everyone in care, especially if they have no visitors. Might those who read your delightful blog want to do the same?
Hugs!
Like it Wanda! You have a way with color!
I love the colors and energy in this quilt! Gorgeous! Andrea, Minnesota
