I put some of the triangle strips that I showed yesterday on the design wall. This is a little less than half that I have sewn. I am waiting to press them so that I can press to have seams lock together. I am about 1/4 done making blocks so lots more Sundays of sewing.
This is the batch of 44 blocks that I sewed last night. Someone asked the name of the block. I just saw it on 3 blogs and started making them. I have also seen them in 2 different sizes. On one blog a reader made a comment that they looked like switch plates so that is what some are calling them. A search on the internet didn't bring up anything except switch plate covers of all varieties.
I took 20 photos yesterday so I'll show a few today and more on other days. Three of the pots I planted are Begonias. The 2 on the left are pale pink and the one on the right is a deep rose color.
Some of the plants in the front bed are sending up flower stalks.
This one is an overachiever.
The perennial Dianthus is starting to bloom. There are lots of buds there so I'll show it again in full bloom.
Here are the tiny Moss Roses I planted by the Sedum. I hope they fill in the whole area.
I have 3 Hardy Geraniums with the fuchsia flower in the beds on both sides of the porch. I have never been able to capture the deep fuchsia color of the blooms but I keep trying.
The last thing I planted in the early evening was the tomato plant for my little 4 1/2 year old neighbor girl. It's a little hard to see with the sun shining so bright on it and the grass color blending in. This one is along my driveway just steps away from the neighbor's lawn. I have some more to plant along there today. It sounds like we will get rain Friday late afternoon so I want to get everything in the ground before that.

I love how the Sunday triangles are looking. And I saw those blocks called Switch Plates too and had to try some. I think mine will be a mix of scrappy around the center and same fabric around and will take me eons to finish enough for a quilt but that's the way I like it.
Quite an array of plants. Hope your moss rose do fill in. I have such a difficult time spacing plants far apart because I want to see "filled in" right away. I love coral bells/heuchera. They come in so many leaf colors now. I remember them when I was younger just being kind of plain. I found a seed mix and am trying to grow a bunch from seeds this year to fill in a shady spot.
Hubby bought a few square cages for his tomatoes a couple of years ago and who knows why he didn't like them so gave them to me. I liked how they could fold out and be used like a trellis so weaved one through a group of tree lilies and the other I am growing sweet peas on. Those are pretty versatile cages. How sweet you are growing it for a little neighbor.
Great to take a break from sewing triangles and get out to gardening...makes a nice change....your triangles are mounting up well and your garden plants are really looking lovely...My big purple iris is stubbornly still shut tight!!
Hugs from sunny "house on the hill" today Julierose
Those 'switch plate' blocks look like the signature blocks from so many vintage quilts. I like the more colorful use of them now!
I know Cynthia from "Quilting is more fun than housework" called her blocks "Switchplate", but I also saw that Missouri Star Quilt Company has a variation called Keyhole blocks. You've gotten a lot done outside. It was too hot last week for me to do much in the garden, so I'm far behind again.

I also didn't do much outside because of the heat. I did re-seed parts of the yard though before the two rain showers over the weekend. I have coral bells for the first time this year. We planted them last year in our rain garden. I look forward to seeing them grow and bloom! I like the "switchplates", whatever they're called!
You are making a lot of progress with both quilt block designs. Your plants are looking fabulous! I need to go look and see what is going on in my flower beds.
I can see hours of work going on inside and outside for you, Wanda . Makes for an awesome post yet again.

Your HST sets look SO good - a bit like potato chips, aren't they? And your garden is growing really well - so happy things made it through the winter and you can now add new plants to the others.
Those triangle strips are looking so nice. Everything appears to be thriving in the planting beds.
I love the triangles and "switchplate" is a great name for the rectangle blocks.
Your HST blocks are looking good!! Always therapeutic to get out into the garden and be busy planting ready for summer colour, begonias are always a good bet and pretty prolific with flowering.
