I sewed 12 of the Winged Square (Cut Glass Dish) blocks yesterday but haven't turned the iron on yet so they are pretty wonky on the design wall. Now that they are sewn I could turn the darks in one direction and the lights in the opposite direction. Until I make the rest of the blocks I don't have a preference for a setting yet.
I changed this block from a dark one to a light one by turning the triangle units 180 degrees and putting gray dotted squares in. It previously had the dark purple with big flowers for the squares.
Yesterday morning by the time I got up it had warmed up to -1 degrees. It was 7 degrees for a high with the sun shining all day. This morning is supposed to be a lot colder. But....by Thursday it is supposed to get up to 30 or maybe a couple degrees warmer. And next week they are talking 50s by midweek. I'll believe it when I see it.

Love the block you changed up--so pretty. I like the idea of two directions for the blocks too. You got a lot of sewing done yesterday...nice work.
It is only 18 here this morning and we have a forecast of snow over this coming weekend...we shall see...hugs, Julierose
That block looks like a better fit now that you changed the dark purple squares to the gray dotted fabric. It is a balmy 6 degrees here this morning! LOL!!
hear you on the weather - here it is 23 this morning and will be like this for a couple days - then they say 50's for a couple days or more then back to 20-30's - just like a see-saw up and down all the month of February and maybe snow too or ice they predict
Love the blocks the way you have them looks really good
Once again it is pure delight to watch you craft yet another magnificent quilt. Keep having fun while staying warm!
Are the gray polka dots a batik or "regular" fabric?
Super blocks! How many more blocks do you think you will make?
This piece jumps right off the screen when enlarged. The unique prints you have used with your triangles are truly one of a kind. The beauty of this piece gets better with each block. Love the last one with the gray polka dots.
