Binding started..........
You can see that I am doing a multicolor binding on this little pinwheel quilt. The binding fabrics are batik and tough to sew through so I didn't get very far on the hand stitching.
This is the strata that I cut the pieces I showed yesterday out of. I only made one strata to use for demonstration purposes but I may sew another strata now. It will be all different fabrics than this strata because I will just use more of the strips that were cut 10 years ago and I had only cut one from each fabric.

While tough to sew through, your binding choice looks perfect!

I wish I could take your class!!!!
A batik question for you....since I consider you the QUEEN of Batiks!!! I am about to do a quilt top made entirely of batiks. Someone asked me what I was using for the backing and I was totally stumped. Do you have any suggestions? I'm thinking the backing doesn't have to be batik but I know someone who thinks otherwise....very strongly, so now I am really wavering back and forth. I'd like your thoughts about backings on batik quilt tops. (If you have covered this in the past, I must have missed it and I apologize for that.)
Beautiful binding. I've done batik binding and yes, they are tough on the hand. I rarely use batik for the backing since it's not seen on a wall quilt and if the quilt is being hand quilted (which I did once) it's a slow and tough go.
LOVELY QUILT, AND VERY PRETTY BINDING.HUGS FROM bRASIL. I LOVE ALL YOUR WORKS, AND YOUR BLOG.
The binding fabric is perfect for that quilt. Maybe it's time to change needles if it's that tough to stitch?
Batik makes it much harder but the fabric/color choice is perfect.
Multi colored binding is beautiful, and so is your finishing.
Just plain fun to see what you are showing us that you present to your classes. Makes me feel like I am a part of it, even so far away.

Nice touch with the multi-fabric binding. I like your Christmas Strips 'n Curves strata. I am anxious to see it all sewn together.
I was so sorry to hear that it is hard to hand stitch through the batik since that is what I am going to use on my snails quilt. Oh, well.
The dense batiks are quite hard on the fingers when hand sewing. My fingers are getting arthritis, quite badly, but luckily the worst seems to be on my right hand, & I am left handed!
Love your stratas.
I totally want to curl up with that pinwheel quilt. It's awesome. And I just love the fabrics for the christmas quilt - such a wide range of patterns and scale. It'll be interesting to see how it all turns out.
