Indecison strikes again
I was so full of fire that first day of the year, just knowing that every day I would get a lot done. HA! Elsie was right, the book couldn't be put down, and now I have finished it. When I got to my second set of squares and trimmed them everything was going fine. AND then I noticed the original choice Kaffe fabric laying right next to the beach ball fabric (which was going to be THE fabric for the second quilt) and I liked them together. I spent the rest of the evening laying strips around the squares on top of the beach ball fabric and deciding spacing etc. I finally decided to sleep on it.
As I look at the pictures this morning, I still like it.
I packed away some of the fragile Christmas things yesterday and I need to finish that today. Then I can finish this little quilt. I have another that I played a with a little yesterday so maybe I'll have 2 to show tomorrow. That's how much energy I predict I will have today. We'll see.

Once again, I never would have predicted that this would work, but it looks like it might. I didn't care for the beachballs (I thought they were candy) alone, but somehow adding more chaos to the mix looks great!
I went back and looked at the choices from before. My pics were this one or the second one. They are both
great for lots of movement and texture. Luscious color!
There is certainly a lot going on but somehow it works! Go for it!

Since this is so bright fun and playful, maybe you could try just scattering the blocks around, not in perfect rows? That would add to the fun.
I am having so much fun watching you arrange your fabric. I am using many of the same fabrics in a quilt I am making. It is so different from yours and I love seeing your choices. Since mine is a kit from Glorious Color, the choices have been made for me. When I started the quilt I didn't have as much confidence in my fabric decisions as I do now. Thanks for showing these. I am enjoying it so much.

IT's wild! I love it.
I like this one too. It looks a bit like the blocks are floating on the beach balls, perhaps because of the small shadows created where the fabric lifts a bit on the design wall. Whatever. It is very cool and playful, especially when our city is in deep winter... a long way from the beach!
I LOVE it! You could call it Effervescence, but even that is too staid of a word for how this bubbles happily!

Hmmm, I don't dislike it, but my eyes keep getting drawn to the beach balls instead of the blocks. Maybe I would be able to focus better seeing the whole thing instead of a small section?
Either way the colors do work together well. I love watching you go thru the process.
You should send Kaffe some photos of what you do with these fabrics. I'm sure he would be astounded! Truly innovative
OOOuuuu....I'm all about busy, crazy and colorful. I love things that are not the 'norm'. The beach balls work for me!!

Love what you're doing here... and it is so wonderfully reassuring to understand that you deal with indecision as you work. But you always seem to come out on the "amazing" side after you ponder... such a gift you share with all of us!

With the variety of scale, and the similarity of color, it works well. You have a skill for combining fabrics successfully.

Yesterday's quilt is cheerful, yet toned down.
Today's quilt is a 5-alarm fire! Beautifully bright.
I think those beach balls won't look like beach balls once you're done; probably just slices of color.
I know it'll look good no matter what.

You did exactly what I would have done. I always lay it out and then let it sit for a day or two to see if anything strikes me unusual. Most of the time my 1st instincts are correct, but sometimes not so much. I just put my strata quilt on the design wall yesterday and am living with it before the blocks get sewn together. I can't wait to see yours put together.
