Half way there
I have half of the blocks sewn together for the zig zag quilt. I will finish them today and chose a border. I found one more block in the basement on the cutting table so I didn't have to repair the one with a flaw.
I needed something fun before I started that though so I sewed a few more blocks for quilt #3 in the series of My Current Favorite. I have to come up with a better name for the series though.
I went out to lunch with a friend yesterday at a new restaurant in town. It was cold out but the sun was shining. On the way home I filled up my gas tank before the price goes up again. I hope it caps at $2 like they are predicting.

smiled at you not liking the name of your series/or numbering your quilts in that series... whenever I read about the quilts in your current favorite series I think "today's yummy" perhaps the name of some treat could apply to each and every one :-)

or "Choice of the Day" (like a manager's special or soup of the day selection)
or, digging back into my early years as a parent, there was a show my kids loved with Jeff and Jody. Their song was "Today's Special" and my oldest hummed/sang it for years - now he's in the sound engineering field so go figure :-)
Glad you enjoyed your lunch outing ~ gas prices are creeping slowly upwards again here, too.

The sun is shining here today and the temperature is going up... but not the gas prices. My BH says it is all about commodity trading and futures and greed. Alberta is a high producer of oil and gas, yet the prices are cheaper in other provinces. Go figure.
Hmmm... I will have to help you think about the favorite list name. Although what you have is original. I am glad you found the leftover block. That really was good timing. I do love the new blocks you are making and can't wait to see you new favorite. I have to say that gas is more expensive here in CT. It is because of the state taxes. Ugh! We are still hovering around $1.80 for regular and about $2.10 for premium. They haven't budged in the past few weeks and hopefully won't.
I too like the brighter "something fun" blocks. I've been making some of those too from my remnant bin.
The one I like best is the one you call your second favorite. It's playful and happy.
These are fun blocks. I love the colors. I am definitely not a precision quilter. I took a class on skewed blocks and they were so much fun to make. I ended up using them on the fronts of tote bags. Love the pictures. Keep 'em coming! Linda

I bought gas yesterday for $1.49 and my DD filled her tank today for $1.87! What a difference a day makes. I hope it doesn't get too much higher.
I love your floating squares, whatever you call them -- for some reason they seem to remind me of fruit floating in jello.
My excuse? Migraine meds -- I'm definitely a bit loopy! LOL
Your quilt is going to be so nice.
I like the little colorful blocks too. I have made some like this only they were even size strips all around. They are called Cobblestones, so yours makes me think of Crooked Cobblestones or Off the Beaten Path.
Anxious to see your Zig-Zag quilt all stitched together ... Now that's MY current favorite even before you complete it.
O.K. it sounds like another vote is coming with renaming your 'current favorite'series. (*._,*)
