I Can't count, or is it tunnel vision?
Yesterday I said this amaryllis had 5 flowers and buds. I guess I was looking at it from the wrong angle. Yesterday I noticed it has 5 blooms and a bud. It is also VERY top heavy and has taken a dive once already but didn't hurt the flowers I have put the pot down into a deeper container and hope it will stay standing now.
This little squirrel was up on the end of this broken branch eating a chunk of snow yesterday. I couldn't get the angle right to see the snow in his paws.
I finished quilting a quilt last night and got it trimmed but I'm going to put the binding on before I show it. It is a top that I finished last summer but that was started over 10 years ago.

I normally have only had 4 buds with flowers on the ones that I have grown for Xmas in the past, I don't think I have even seen one with 6!

Can you put some type of wooden dowel in the soil next to the plant and gently tie the plant's stem to that so it won't fall over anymore. It is SO pretty. I've never done an amaryllis bulb and probably should get one when I next see them.
lol, I just read your comment on my blog saying that you too had never seen 6 blooms on an amaryllis stem.
Either this is a year for 6-blooms amaryllis, or yours was jealous of mine :-)

a long knitting needle sticking in the soil beside the flower would help prevent more falls :-)
I can see the sun streaming through your window, it adds to the splendor of all blossoms. A real treat to see so many.
Always makes me smile to see a squirrel dashing around on a frigid day, but never seen one eating a little snowball !

That squirrel looks like he is very precariously perched. I thought I was the only one who had quilts that were started over 10 years ago?!

Your amaryllis is gorgeous! I usually have problems with them falling over too. Staking them helps. This year mine fell over and broke anyways. Cats don't help much when it comes to knocking these beauties to the ground!
How very beautiful that amaryllis is! At least it must feel like spring inside.
We haven't seen any of the roof garden squirrels -- think it's too cold even for them!
Love your Amaryllis! I too normally have them going to Xmas, but somehow didn't get one going this year. I use a green bamboo garden stake with green jute to keep them from toppling over. It works wonders.
