I sewed a few cross rows in the morning yesterday and a few in the afternoon. I finished the rest last night. It was 10:30 when I finished the staystitching around the perimeter so I'll get it pressed and photographed today.
I didn't have a lot of choices for fussy cutting the ladies blocks. I only had a 10", width of fabric strip left and I needed to cut five 8.5" squares. This one has the most faces and there are 2 of these.
The other 3 are similar to this one.
When I got home from grocery shopping yesterday I took my phone out with me to see if there was anything growing or blooming. This old Forsythia bush only has a few flowers each year. I would like to have the bush pulled out but I end up leaving it there because the birds love it. I do need to trim off some branches soon.
I haven't broken off any of the Sedum stems yet but I peeked down into one of the plants and see that the new growth is starting. I had to move a lot of maple leaves to get down in here so they were growing without sunlight, totally covered in leaves. Light rain is predicted for this morning and tomorrow morning so I might not get to it until the weekend. We are supposed to get up to 70 tomorrow and by Monday snow flurries are in the forecast. It's still mainly in the 40s and 50s here in northern IL so it is early to be uncovering plants.

Your ladies look quite happy amongst the 16-patches! This in-between weather, while better than blazing summer, is kinda crazy.
Love how the Ladies quilt is coming together, Wanda--this is such a pretty piece...:)))
No forsythia blooms yet here--only 33 this morning--March is flying away so fast...hoping for a warmer April..
I attached my 3rd block per instructions yesterday without any sashing strip and I am sort of ambivalent right now-- ;((((
but more to be added through the end of this month...mostly embroidery of some sort to blend the piece to Block #1..
I will be resting my hands after that marathon!!
Hugs, Julierose
We have missed two chances for rain already this week, but there is still a possibility today and tomorrow. Spring is definitely arriving in your part off the world.
It amazes me how our cameras on these phones and iPads pick unbelievable details. Your close up photos shows the Tilda prints beautifully but did not expect to see the woven threads in the fabrics also.
Always fun to see the new spring growth popping up in our gardens this time of year. And makes us wonder if we should leave that blanket of leaves over them, for awhile longer till it warms up a bit .
I'm hoping to get a walk in the ravine at the end of the block to check for skunk cabbage--our sure sign of spring!
The quilt top looks wonderful! I have noticed a few daffodils in a few places that I did not plant them. The squirrels had been busy rearranging them for me! LOL!!!
it is always so nice to see the plants growing isn't it - you know yes you might still get a little cold weather but it will be less and less over the next couple weeks. When you get a new top together you sure do sew it up fast.
Well done on getting this delightful quilt sewn together!! I hear you in the difficulty of getting multiple designs in your squares due to pattern repeats.
Our forsythia, Bradford pears, Red Bud trees are in bloom and the rhododendrons have buds. It's lovely! Springtime!!
Hugs!
