Mask making..........
In a town close by there was a call for masks for cancer patients, ones who use these on a regular basis. With the shortage they haven't been able to get the ones they need. This batch is the beginning of the ones I'm making for children.
I got a batch of batik pieces cut for the adult size. I have seen several different styles in the last few days. This is the style requested by the lady who is collecting them. 1149 have been delivered to her since I saw the original post 2 days ago.
I also got a backing pieced and loaded on my longarm. It is a large quilt. I have 16 large ones waiting to be quilted and I hope to get 3 of them done in the next couple weeks.
I took a few more early morning photos yesterday. The 3" of snow is mostly melted now.
The snow was piled high on the tree branches.
Lastly, 3" of snow piled on the Sedum blooms. I hope this is the last time I will see this until next winter.

You got a lot of snow!! We just got windblown snow that melted in the rains that came soon after...very messy and very cold...
Are you using flannel for the mask backing? I am awaiting an order of flannel as I didn't have any on hand..

I started making these about 3 weeks ago, for family/friends. I'm going to try the style that has a pocket to put in a filter. Good work on the ones you've done so far. Thankfully we didn't get any snow so far this year and it's been mild and sunny the past few day,s so I'm not complaining :)
Good morning Wanda. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to make some of these for my family members as well, especially the ones who are working, and in contact with many people during the course of a day. Would you mind sending me the measurements of the ones you are making, along with the length of elastic used? Do you line them, because I have lots of flannel that I could do that with. I'm guessing the fabric should be washed, prior to sewing. Enjoy your day and stay safe.
OHH, that SNOW!! UGH! We've had so much rain, I'm tired of it though we'll need it in July. I made 25 masks for a small hospice/home health company who'd requested 100. But elastic is impossible to find so I've purchased elastic headbands from Dollar Tree to use in more.
Those masks look so great Grandma! I'm sure everyone getting them will be so happy!
I’m a little concerned about the elastic. These masks will need to be washed at a temperature of at least 60 degrees so fabric ties might be better
I am sure those masks will be appreciated! If anyone needs elastic they can call WBC Industries 800-818-2932 and see if they have any to the size you need in stock. They are located in NJ so I don't know what the status of their business operations might be. I buy hook and loop tape as well as elastic from them for the equipment covers I make for my nephew's band and for other musicians. I do not receive any compensation for mentioning them, I just thought that this could possibly be another source for all the quilters making masks. You can check out their website for their selection.

My sister and her friends are making some, too. I've checked out several mask patterns. I don't have wired ribbon so chose a pattern that doesn't require it. Does yours? I am only making some for myself and DH since I haven't found any facility that wants them. How wonderful that you know someone who will use these. We want to help, not just make stuff that is seen as useless.

No, now we don't enjoy snow anymore ... spring is expected. We have minus degrees at night and some graders plus during the day ... it's cold but the sun is shining all day and that's wonderful.
