My Ray of Sunshine is finished..........
I put the last binding stitches in yesterday. I'm really happy with this simple quilt.
As I mentioned in an earlier post when I had finished the quilting, some rows are just wavy lines with loops here and there and the rest of the rows are leaves with an occasional flower.
This was the first flower I did and I thought about taking it out but decided to leave it.
This is the second flower and it was considerably better. I showed the third flower a few days ago and it was the best one.
I also got this one quilted this week, just simple large meandering. It is one that will be used and washed and used some more so I didn't think I needed any fancier quilting than that. Meandering gives an all over even pucker and the quilt stays soft too. Too much quilting makes a stiff quilt.
I still need to do the binding on it but I wanted to see how it looked on a queen size bed without a dust ruffle. It is unlikely that it will end up in a sunshine yellow room but that is the only place I have that size bed.

Love the yellow. Do you quilt on a long arm or domestic?

Both quilts are great! I don't think I could quilt a queen quilt on a DSM in a week. My shoulders would totally revolt!

You are right about heavy quilting making a stiff quilt - I seem to have forgotten that lesson on my current project. Oh well, you have to go with what works.
The other thing often forgotten with heavy quilting is that it literally makes the quilt heavier.
Love the yellow!

Love your yellow room, and sunshine quilt! They will be wonderful together!

The other quilt is gorgeous, too. If not in your yellow room, I'm sure that you'll find another place for it! On a wall, perhaps?

I seriously cannot get over how in love I am with that luminous yellow quilt. I suppose it's a great lesson on how a quilt doesn't have to be complicated to be gorgeous--the fabric speaks volumes, all by itself. You give me too many ideas! :)

Your yellow quilt reminds me how much I love squares in a quilt. No matter how many different patterns there are out there in the quilt world, simple square blocks make the best of quilts! The quilt in the yellow room is a beauty too!:)
Thanks for sharing your artistry!

I love the sunshine quilt- it is so happy looking- The flowers look great in it- I am like you, I meander most quilts- I have a babylock quilting machine- slightly bigger than a domestic machine with a small extender table- I have quilted a king sized quilt on it without too much difficulty. I don't have the space for a big long arm machine- even if I could find one for a reasonable cost. I love your trip around the world- very rich looking.
Have a wonderful day.
Regards,
Anna

Yellow quilt just glows with happiness and you always know how to quilt a piece that even adds more personality to it.

Your queen sized quilt is stunning. I had to enlarge it and was surprised at the stitching that showed on that photo.

Hi Wanda,
Both quilts look great!
Now you have some sunshine even when it's cloudy and grey outside.
I never noticed in earlier posts that the yellow squares are in a bit of a pattern (loose diagonal).

How pretty! The yellow is so cheerful. As Vicky F said above, you will always have sunshine with this quilt. And the trip around the world is also very pretty.

...absolutly beautiful. I'm working on a yellow quilt right now myself....just a simple 9-patch using vintage (but never used) linens. The color makes me very happy. Love ur blog!
