Testing the panel blocks.......................

I cut squares from the Marcia Derse panel fabric and tried them with the MD 16 patch blocks.  Some areas are light and some darker so every square looks different.  I have 100 sixteen patch blocks  made and need 120 so I could use 20 squares cut from the panel.  It really isn't a panel even though they call it that.  The stores are just cutting at the repeat of the design.

I continued hand stitching the binding while a plumber was here for 3 hours yesterday.

The plumber tried to clear the plugged bathroom sink drain but he couldn't get through.  He ended up cutting the black pipe that was installed when the house was built in 1953 and replacing the line from both the sink and the tub (which was also having problems).  The white PVC pipe is the new line, on the left coming from the tub and the right coming from the sink and joining before they feed into the main stack.  I covered everything in the area with plastic drop cloths so I wouldn't get metal shavings from the pipe cutting on anything.  Last night I was vacuuming the area and moving tables back in place.  I have lots of pipes running across the ceiling of the basement.  I have hot water heat so there are those pipes, plus the natural gas pipe.  The top of my design wall leans against pipes (see this at the left in the photo).

That's great that you have panel blocks that can be blended in with your patch blocks,I think its going to turn out great! hope the plumber got everything resolved speaking of older pipes I had a plumber that had to go up on the roof to get to the bathroom pipes a few yrs ago 🤣

Those panel blocks look neat amongst the 16-patches! So your space was "invaded" yesterday. I bet you're glad to have that all fixed.

That’s a good way to use the Marcia Derse panel piece. I have a couple of those (i think from her Art History line) that have sat here for years, one with a black background and one with a light. I plan to use the light one as the center of a medallion quilt. After looking at yours and seeing how you cut it up, I am thinking of cutting my black one in strips to use as sashing for something. I never considered cutting it up, until you did! Glad you got the pipes fixed without damage to things downstairs! We just had some replaced too and I won’t take them for granted anymore. (We couldnt figure out the cause but suspect maybe the dishwasher tabs? They are encased in a plastic-like covering that supposedly dissolves?)

The panel fabric fits in great and is a excellent way to use it. That was quite the plumbing job! At least the pipe was easy to get to for the plumber.

Terrific method for dealing with a panel! And hooray for fixed pipes - never an easy job (for you or for the plumber).

Good the plumber was able to fix the pipes without incident and your space has been put back to rights. I love the squares of the MD “panel” mixed in.

I do like the MD panel pieces scattered throughout your piece, Wanda--they look great!! ;)))
I went food shopping early on this morning and have just finished making some cauliflower cheese for myself (DH is not a fan!!--s'alright--more pour moi hahaha) for lunch with my very first harvested tomato...i am sharing it with DH --fair is fair--after all he built the planter for us!! :)))
72 here with smokey skies again--but no odor today--yesterday you could smell that acrid smoke...we are still in a bad air quality alert here until this evening...
Glad your plumber was able to fix things up for you...I hate water problems !! Have a good rest of your day hugs, Julierose

The 16ps look great. It's such a blessing to have a local, reliable plumber -- and he solved the problem! I've had hot water heat in two houses and vastly prefer forced hot air.

I like the MD pieces among the 16 patch blocks, too, and love the creative idea that popped in your thoughts to use them!
I'm so glad your plumber fixed the problem by replacing those old and clogged pipes so the blockages are gone. You were so wise to cover your yummy fabrics from whatever gravity brought down during the repairs.

Hugs!

I haven't seen a panel to use like that - good idea. Well one good thing of all those pipes up there like that is that you didn't have a ceiling over them- that would have made it harder and more expensive to fix.
