Just a little mindless sewing...............

I did my tomato plant trimming yesterday morning before it got too hot.  There should be better air circulation now through the plants.

After lunch I decided to use some 1.5" batik strips in a bag that were left from a previous project.  Here is that project on this post in 2009.  (I quilted the quilt in 2016.)  There were 170 strips originally in the bag but over the years I have used some strips out of the bag for other projects.  The strips are all half width (20" approx.) and I used 60 so far for this group of stratas.  These will probably be used for table runners since I didn't make any table mats or runners last month.

I finally had windows open overnight for 2 nights while the temperature and humidity both dropped.  Now we are going back to a string of 90s.  This morning the dew point will start out at 60 around 1 a.m. and by 11 p.m. it will be around 74.  That is a big humidity change, in addition to being close to 90 degrees.  We won't get relief again until next Wednesday.

That is a good way to use up those strips. It is still very humid here with no relief in sight. I went out early this morning to cut back the vines that were growing on the fence that we have our sign for the job. The vines were starting to block the sign and it was still cool enough to do that job. It something that I do once or twice a year.

I so enjoyed reading the post you linked to and agree the quilt has a light airy feel to it. It will be fun seeing what you come up with using the strata from those strips. Hope there really is relief coming for you next week.

Mindless sewing is so good for the soul -- and having those lovely strips to play with make it even better.

I think those strips have been waiting long enough to be made into something, and just sewing them together is a good start. The low humidity and sunshine have been wonderful.

Love how you're using those delicious 20" strips and know they're a delight as you sew! My mindless sewing is to make fabric slabs - matching in color families or not - and cutting each into a heart shape to layer with scrap fusible batting and a backing fabric. I machine quilt each one, the cut around the perimeter with pinking shears, add a hanging ribbon and maybe buttons to add a bit of joy in the world. See "I Found A Quilted Heart".
Yesterday I finished the center of the scrappy Single Irish Chain baby quilt and am on to choosing borders!

Hugs!

Its always fun to see your piles of strips, blocks, and pieces that you will create another quilt top with. Always looking forward to the next step.
