Sewing stratas.....................

Even though I'm not done cutting strips from the Marcia Derse fabric, I had to start sewing pairs together.  They all need pressing now before I can cut them into the segments for the blocks.

I like some pairs better than others, but the overall look is what I need to be concerned with.

These 24 stratas will produce 48 blocks (if I don't make any cutting mistakes) and that would only be a 48" x 64" quilt.  I have a large piece for backing that I scored on sale so I need to make it larger.

The porch pots are looking a little sad now that bugs have started chomping on the leaves.  I haven't see any bugs but so I'm not sure what kind is doing the damage.

The petunias have come back to life but the bugs are even eating holes in the petals.

I love the centers of the Coneflowers, especially when they are fresh and not starting to dry up.

A few of the Annabelle Hydrangea blooms are starting to turn lime green.

Our late afternoon rain was a fizzle yesterday, but some more storms came through later.  I'm hoping to see some water in the rain gauge this morning.

Bob was watching the weather yesterday and said some strong storms appeared to be moving your way. I hope you got some rain without any bad stuff.

Lovely stratas in progress, Wanda;))
I think this humidity and super heat has brought more bugs into being--for sure at our place. We get attacked just walking to our mailbox these days!!!
72 here, but still muggy...hope your upcoming weekend is a cooler one...hugs, Julierose

Your stratas are gorgeous. The coleus photo has a little bit of the stratas look to it! Maybe the bugs are thirsty? Do your Coneflowers reseed?

The MD fabric pairings are so pretty! Darn bugs! We had a short downpour yesterday so I had another evening I didn't have to water. I bet the weeds are growing like crazy.

Your stratas remind me of men's ties and cravats for some unknown reason. They will make a wonderful, classy quilt!
Sorry for the greedy bug invasion in your garden.
We've had so much rain that we have volunteer trees coming up everywhere along with rampant vines that climb. Wish we had more energy.
My scrappy Single Irish Chain baby quilt is growing!

Hugs!

I think your fabric and your pot colors go together beautifully.

those strips all look so good together. I wonder what bugs were eating the petunias? Had you seen them?

We had storms last evening (I didn't even attempt to go to the concert in the park) and overnight. Humid right now. Your stratas are wonderful and, yes, the total will be greater than the sum of the parts.

The bugs on the petunias might be budworms. BT, a spray you can get in a trigger bottle, can kill them. BT (bacillus thuriengiensis) targets larva-stage insects and mosquitos, beetles. So many good sprays (like neem oil) are now available in trigger-spray bottles. No more mixing and attaching to the hose.

Oh, I love your strata, too! Sorry I didn’t mention that in my last comment. Got carried away nerd-ing out on the garden!
